	i think it says you know it's nothing new bad news never had good timing but then the circle of your friends will defend the silver lining thats my favorite part. good friends do that for you.

	One of my instant favourites, perhaps because of the obvious sweetness ("Feel my chest when I look at you", awwwww!). But beyond it, you find a deeper meaning, like in any John's song, a woman's insecurity and he being totally open about the way he sees her behaviour: "you live like your hand's on the horn, baby" (light criticism). "There's a hole in the cup that should hold my love": in my opinion, a sweet way of saying "don't you see you're losing me that way?" . I wish I had that way of being assertive making my points... Without being totally related to this one, I enjoy it very much, mainly because of its positivity at the end(unlike most of other's John's ones).

	I love this song! This and Split Screen Sadness, and New Deep are the best songs on the LP. Anyway, I think that this song is about trying to convince someone that they are the only one for you. This person has abandonment issues. ("If you let me leave, I swear I never will..)

	Adorable. John refers to it as his "80s pop song". :) It is very pop-py, but cute nontheless. I love the "feel my chest when I look at you" line. Adorable.

	No one's commented? wild. This song is, I think, about a guy who has to leave his girl for a period of time but he plans to come back. We all know how emotional and insecure girls can get. Basically, he's just reassuring her. The line where he says "If you let me leave, I swear I never will", I think he's saying "just let me go do this thing, don't make a big deal out if it, I will like you more if you just chill and I promise I'll come back" I guess its easy for me to relate to this song because my fiance and I are about 200 miles apart in our last year of college.

	The heart of life is a very simple song, the lyrics at leat ..not that they're simple but they are easy to understand, it speaks literally and without metaphors (which makes ocntrast to many of his other more complex lyrics) ...anyanyway, it is good that is easy to understand, it gives it a light sound and feeling that could be absolutely useful when you're feeling down ..i actually listened to it when my dog died haha ...its just about making you feel better and seeing the bright side of things ..of life. john mayer's voice in this song makes me feel like he's tryiong to comfort someone during a bad period of life, telling him/her optimistic things ..but ..at the same time knowing deep inside that what just happened really sucked ..i just found out that other meaning

	my favorite song of the album. just beautiful opening instrumentals.. Basically the core of everything is good..life has its ups and downs, good times and bad times, but in the end good prevails.

	great song. its about breaking up with someone. "you know it's nothing new that news never had good timing" its a terrible feeling to break up with someone (most of the time) and there is never really a good time to do so. "pain throws your heart to the ground love turns the whole thing around" breaking up hurts real bad, but love from those who care about you, like family and freinds, will make you feel better. "but then the circle of your friends will defend the silver lining" your freinds will be there for you, to make you feel better. "heart of life is good" although the hear of life (love) can cause you pain, its still a good thing. Love is still a good thing, and will continue to be around you in good ways. (family,freinds, a new loved ones)

	Yeah I think it's about people. People let you down and hurt your feelings but at the core of everything, they are ultimately good because they have the ability to love. It's really easy to look at the world and just give up on the whole human race altogether, but John reminds us that love has the ability to fix it all.

	first of all the lyrics are wrong. anyways, i think the song is about death or love and life. it says pain throws your heart to the ground love turns the whole thing around fear is a friend who's misunderstood--- that people are scared of dying. and life, and love. thats all the song is about. its about caring for someone no matter what happens.

	This song is not about 'breaking up' - god, you fucking teenagers say EVERY song is about breaking up, its ridiculous. This song is a feel good song, its about being positive about whatever life throws at you (that is MANY MANY things other than something as trivial as 'breaking up') This song is amazing, John Mayer is great.
