I havnt found any acurate tabs for this
yet so I figured there were people who
would like to play the song so here is how
i hear it. He plays it a few different ways
when going from his album to a live set-even
slapping the bass notes sometimes live.
The low E needs to be tuned down all the way to a C.
This C will act as your bass line while playing.
I can promise you this is correct-the timming is the
key and every note listed really is there. This in
no way represents the rythm, it would have taken hours
to tab that you should be able to figure it out.
h=hammer-on
/=slide up
X=play muted string

| To me it's about a guy who cares deeply for a girl, and this girl is extremely unhappy on the inside. She try to cover it up by always being on the go..or always being the center of attention. He's worried about her and wants to help her, but feels like he can't or shouldn't because he might lose her...or..he just wants her to learn and grow from her experiences and mistakes. | |

| Yep, I agree Vandy! 'buzzing' - A little hint there. A great funky song, gets you dancing, eventhough the lyrics don't seem like you should be bopping to it. | |

| this is my favorite of his songs, not even really because of the lyrics, but his playing. the acoustic version he did on last call w/ carson was amazing, i watch it everyday at least once. i can't really say what this song means, cept this girl is being totally selfish and needs to realize what she has waiting for her... | |

| catchy backbeats - i love it. the lyrics are pretty good too... it's about a girl who spreads herself too thin and won't tie herself down. so he can't be with her. for a commintment-phobe like me this is a fun song :) | |

| Beautiful disaster i agree with you on that. when the lights come out in the city, she has to be the center of attention, life of the party but he knows that this kind of lifestyle can't last forever. i think this could also be a possible refereence to drugs. ( call me crazy, its happened before) but it just seems like shes a party animal and he cares about her and knows this lifestyle could end up killing her. but he doesnt know how to tell her , or if its even his place to do so. | |

| i agree with the wild-lifestyle thing completely. he cant be with her because of it. and it drives him crazy but he cant hold her down. hes just gonna wait to be with her.. hopefully not "before she burns away" | |

| Hey all, I can't quite explain how I got hooked onto JM for the first time ages ago, but Neon has always been up there on my list of fav's by him. Obviously the guitar line is absolutely incredible, complex but very melodic. (Apparently I've heard that one needs huge thumbs to play Neon). I guess I could say that when I play this song, it makes me think about downtown neon lights (thats a given) late @night, and nitelife in general. A different approach of looking at Neon, is also about change...on how change can move on without us knowing when we least expect it to. "...she can go b4 she burns away" Which is basically in this case asking how long can change come before changing directions | |

| Definitely a song about chemical addition. Hallucigenics, because "a trail of ruby red and diamond white hits her like a sunrise" is definitely very trippy. "Buzzing like Neon" yeah, coke, ectasy, yeah, "burning away" is "burning out." | |
