beautiful song with beautiful lyrics, its hard to get the true feeling across and not seem insincere or sappy, but i understand it.

this is definitely a drug song. The heart of life is clearly a marijuana brownie. So the line: "but i know the heart of life is good" really means "but i know marijuana brownies taste good". John Mayer needs to stop with the drugs and start writing songs about cars and surfing.

I think this song is about... Well. Just life in general. Like... Yeah, bad things happen, they always do and sometimes it really sucks. But life is life and life is... good. :]

I think this song is a lullaby...it just fits, you know? it's kind of a sweet way to inform your children of how life goes...when I have kids, I will definately sing it to them...

The song can be about breaking up with someone, but it's more generic than that. To quote John, "It's like a great big Hallmark card for whatever occasion you need it to be." The gist of the song is that even though bad and painful things can and do happen, the basic core of life is good and love will get you through anything.

I think this song is so comforting, sweet, and inspirational. I mean if I was ever really upset, and just ready to give up on life and what not, this song would be the cure, I just know it. Thank God for John Mayer writing this because I can just feel it helping me out, eventually.

b e a utiful can't describe it any other way. Yeah Its about the ups and donw in life. I kind of link of like to think about it as a comprimise. he's saying that good things will happen, and bad things will happen. but most of all we remember the good things "the heart of life is good" Oh and I love toward sthe end when he says "fear is a friend whose understood" I still can't rap my head around that concept properly but I think he's on the right track.

One of the best on the album. The melody is great and the picking style is pretty unique. No idea what this song is about. Something about the heart of life being good and stuff.

this is my favorite song off the new album, hands down. i don't really see it as about anything specific, just that things can be shitty but everything is inherently good. i like that, you can apply it to whatever situation you wish. so beautiful

Honestly i really believe that this song is completely under rated. Its message is something that everyone should follow-life may throw you bad times and bad feelings, but underneath that is good intentions. You learn from all the bad times and the mistakes that you make so out of the bad comes the good. I just think more people should be optimistic like john is in this song.

When I heard this song, I didn't think it was about breaking up at all. My interpretation has to do with the fact that I have an extremely pessimistic boyfriend, who's often finding things wrong with life and situations and possibilities for getting hurt and whatnot- but I'm always the optimistic one saying that you have to focus on the love in life, it's what makes that pain worth it and when you have friends around to remind you of the "silver lining" then the awful things don't seem so terrible

I think this song means to not trip out over things in life and to realize that everything will come through eventually. 1
