| my girlfriend and i are both mayer fans, and went to a live show early on in our relationship. we both decided that if we lasted past st. patrick's day that we'd consider our relationship solid. well, i'm happy to announce that we made it, and decided that if we get married we'll aim for as close to that holiday as possible! | |

| this song makes me so happy. why HASNT anyone written about it?! its all about not wanting to wait a minute to go without someone. it hurts to be away from them for any time at all. even though theyre together for the celebration of all these holidays- he cant wait until the next time he can see her. my favorite part is: in the dark on the phone you tell me the names of your brothers and your favorite colors I'm learning you someone should learn me dammit!! :) i love this one. | |

| i love the new resolutions a hundred times, its so true, we make all these resolutions but how many do we actually keep? its like in a relationship, people make promises like, i'll love you forever, and it doesnt always keep i love how john hits everything right on the spot, anyone can relate to his stuff. | |

Like with some songs, I listen to the lyrics and I'm like no one has relationships like that...this is just real, everyday stuff and John makes it beautiful, he's a true artist. This song makes me cry, it's one of my favorites...but then i say that about every song? And anna...I think you're right on the meaning of the song, that's what I get from it. | |

| I seriously think this song is reminiscent of the "A Walk In The Clouds" (with Keanu Reeves) situation. The setting: Winter. A lonely guy (but not too lonely) happens upon this girl who's cheeks are a shade of pink, but is dressed in powder blue. Say, her car broke down, or they're neighbors that have been eyeing each other for the longest time. They start talking and realize that they need to take someone home for the holidays. They come to a compromise (the chorus). And if they stick with it, totally ride the wave till it crashes against the shore, they'll be in the free and clear come the spring. And the whole plan goes on just so they don't have to go spend another holiday alone getting ragged on by their family and friends. But hey, this is just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it. :o) | |

| I have a live version of this song and John Mayer explains what it is about. He says that is having the right time to end the relationship but something comes up. Like he said "Well, I told her I would go to the Peter's wedding and I can't break that." Hence, all the holidays are the reason why they stay together (Nobody wants to be alone at x-mas time), but after St. Pat's there is no reason. I don't know if that helps but thats how he explains it. | |
