Wasting Time - Jack Johnson
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by:Brett
Email:bakier1@yahoo.com
Tuning:Standard (EADGBe)

This is a great song that I haven't seen any tabs for on this site and thought
I'd tab out the version from the video (with a different solo than the album.)

Chords used (bar chords): D(557775) A(577655) Em(779987) Bm11xt(777777) G#(466544)
G(355433)

| / slide up
| h hammer-on
| x Mute note
| ^ Upstroke
| V Downstroke
| ! Mute by slapping strings with palm almost like a drum
(yeah I made that symbol up cuz I don't know what else to put)

(Note:The up and downstrokes and the numerous muting is all in the rhythm)

Note: (I can only give you the notes and chords but the rhythm is essential so listen
and watch the video at jackjohnsonmusic.com)

Song Order:

(Intro 2x)

(Verse 5x)
I'm just a waste of her energy
Don't ya know, shes just wasting my time
Mm, so why dont we get together
And we could waste everything tonight
And we could waste,
And we could waste it all tonight

(Intro 2x)
Yeah yeah, don't ya know now, we could waste yeah...

(Verse 5x)
And I dont pretend to know what you know
Mm, now please dont pretend to know what's on my mind
But if we already knew everything that everybody knows
We would have nothing to learn tonight
And we would have,
Nothing to show tonight

(Chorus 2x)
Oh, but everybody thinks that everybody knows
About everybody else but nobody knows
Anything about themselves,
'Cause theyre all worried about everybody else

(Intro 2x)
Yeah yeah, don't ya know now, you should know by now...

(Solo)

(Verse 5x))
Cause love's just a waste of our energy
Don't ya know, that this life's just a waste of our time
Mm, so why dont we get together
And we could waste everything tonight
And we could waste,
And we could waste it all, yeah

(Chorus 2x)
But everybody thinks that everybody knows
About everybody else but nobody knows
Anything about themselves
'Cause they're all worried about everybody else, yeah

(Intro 4x)
Yeah yeah, don't ya know now, you should know by now...

End on D

[And that's it...much easier than I tabbed it out to be, it's just the basic chords and
the
neat little kick-ass solo, but I must insist on knowing the rhythm to make it work.)

This song has an awesome beat to it, and the guitar rifts are very soothing. Everyone has made correct comments on this song so far. Bad-ass song!

Oh, but everybody thinks That everybody knows About everybody else Nobody knows anything about themselves 'Cause they're all worried about everybody else couldn't have said it better than swonlia.. though i like this song because it tells you about being in a society where everyone thinks they know what's best for you, but in reality, you want the best for yourself, too.

I think Jack is telling people who criticize his relationship, that he doesn't care what they.well if we're wasting our time together and they both love each other, then why not "waste" all their time together? 1

I think JJ and this girl have outsiders (probably friends) trying to tell them that their relationship won't work and they are wasting their time. He's saying that these people need to worry about themselves and let JJ and his girl decide. He is sarcastically saying that they are "wasting" their time if they get together, but in reality, they love being together...to get to know each other. How would they find out if they love each other if they don't try?
