get the E 3rd fret with your thumb during the verse throw a capo on third fret. I lost mine

| this song is beautiful!. I met a girl from Switzerland this year when she came on a student exchange. we are just perfect for eachother and shes been gone for two months now but we're still together. but when i hear this song i know that we truely are "better together" we both love Jack Johnson and this is our song. i know when i go to see her next summer everything will just be perfect because we are better together. , Jack Johnson songs are all amazing and find a way to bring meaning to some aspect of my life. | I think he's trying to apologize to a girl, but can't use words to apologize. He just has to remind her of their great times together. "there's no combination of words i could put on the back of a postcard no song that i could sing" I'm going through the same thing right now. There's no words I can possibly say to apologize to my girlfriend... except that we're better together. | |

| I think this song is one of the best love songs ive ever heard and its also my favorite on the albume. This song puts into words exactly what i try to put on paper when i write poetry to my girlfriend. This song is so simple yet so meaningful and his voice just makes it that much better. I love the line "love is the answer at least, for most of the questions in my heart." that is the best line ever. In Between Dreams rules! | |

| definitely the strongest track from 'in between dreams'. as a few other people have noted, he does an exceptional job in conveying the idea of love through the lyrics... he's really good at making complex concepts seem so simplistic. i believe the term 'in between dreams' is a reference to the day time. ['all of these moments just might find their way into my dreams tonight' meaning the memories you make with that special person are what you dream... 'if all of these dreams might find their way into my day-to-day scene i'd be under the impression i was somewhere in between' meaning that if you were able to continue to make these priceless memories with this person, then you would be 'under the impression' that you were in a state of in between a dream-like state and reality because the experiences you had with this person were so dream-like.] i think that the album title is based on this track as opposed to this song being based on the album titile. 1 2 3 Next | |

| This song refers loosely to the album's title, so I think that dreams are an important element. "and all of these moments just might find there way into my dreams tonight" This is saying that he hopes his day with this girl finds its way into his dreams because it was so wonderful. "but if all of these dreams might find their way into my day to day scene" This is saying that he hopes that his dreams in turn influence his day with this girl, because they are also wonderful (because they are about her). The phrase "In between dreams" is doubly significant. In one sense, its the way he poetically describes his waking day, but its also how he gauges the passage of time and experiences with this girl. Some might measure it one day at a time; he measures it one dream at a time. | |

| my girlfriend and i are getting married this weekend 3/12 and we were struggling to find a song for our wedding. it is on the beach and very untraditional so we wanted to have a song that captured the feeling of our wedding as well as how we felt. we are both huge jack johnson fans and we bought in between dreams on the day it came out and to our surprise the very first song on the cd was perfect. it sayas exactly what we feel. so now we will be having our first dance as a married couple to this song. | This is one of my favorite songs. I chose this song for my boyfriend. It totally fits Pretty much it means that life is hard, and being with someone you love makes it so much easier. There is no way to describe the way it feels to be in love. If you asked me to write a paper on how love feels, I would be left with a blank paper. You know it when you feel it. This song is perfect for me and my boyfriend. We talk on the phone sometimes until 2 in the morning, and sometimes I cant quite remember everything that we talked about, because I fall asleep on the phone. There's not enough time, because we are both in High School and it's like we only have this time, plus I'm moving for a semester, so it's pretty much like we are running out of time to be together. But you have to treasure every moment, becuase there may not be extra time left over... Great song, perfection. | |

| I dont know about anyone else, but I dont think this really reminds me of "high school love", maybe because im in Jr. High. But anyways, I think its about people that are older, but only slightly. Maybe early 20s. Then its seems like youre still starting out, but youre in love, and you have not a whole lot of obligations, and most people havent really earned a whole lot of money from their jobs yet, so you dont have many possessions except each other. It really makes me think of my sister and brother in law, and it makes me think of my parents, and it makes me think of my boyfriend and i.... now that i think about it, its a pretty universal love song. Hmmm.... must ponder.... | |
