| Guys, Jack Johnson was not lead nor backup singer for G. Love. Accoring to what I read(and as G says in the introduction to the song), they went surfing one day and then Jack Johnson played this song for G and G dug it. They decided to record it. That's about it, they haven't collaborated on too much else musically. About the song, I don't Jack(if he indeed wrote the lyrics) is making any large statements condemning life at the bars. These rodeo clowns "bring him up when he's down". They cheer him up. The heart of the song, meaning wise, is when they leave the pub and see two homeless guys on the walk home-"You walk by look at him, but he can't look at you" and "down on the corner there's anther one. reaching out a hand, coming from a broken man." This sounds like G Love, as he often meantions the homeless in his songs("This Ain't Living", "City Bum", etc.). He's juxtaposing the "money man" at the club with the homeless man on the corner. I love this song. It makes me want to go out to a club, especially lyrics like "nobody's romantic cuz its too early for dancing but he comes the music!" | |

| This song reminds me of the worse nightclub I ever visited. Looking around and laughing at those who looked as if they were enjoying their drinks/dancing but were just looking to fit in. These people are distraction in life, just like a rodeo clown. | |

| Okay, I guess we all got that G Love did this a long time ago (back in the mid-90's) for an album and that Jack Johnson (gettin' popular in 2003) is getting credit just now. Bottom line is this...anyone try to sing it while reading the lyrics? He is definitly the kinda guy that writes words and makes 'em fit. Great rythm and style. G-love sounds incredible alongside Jack. Does anyone else see a common theme in some of Jack Johnson's songs? Disdain for binge drinking and frat-boy behavior. Oh shit, Wait till he sees his fan base. Song meaning: People who drink and follow crowds - bad; people who're homeless - good. (How does he think all of those homeless became homeless????) | |
