Album: Yours Truly, Angry Mob
Year: 2007
The first chord played is D.
Verse 1:
D
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo
Bm
Everything is average nowadays
D
Everything is average nowadays
Bm
Everyone would do it if they can
G
And everything is going down the pan
G/F# A
And everyone is following the craze
And everything is average
Note: On the G/F# chord, just slide your first finger down to the F# note while keeping
else in position for the G.
Halfway through the verse, there is a quiet little riff which goes like this:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-7---8-7-----7---8-7-------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------7-----------7-----------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
On the second verse, there is another guitar part which goes like this:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-7-----------------------7-------------------------------------------------|
G|---9--7---7--9b11----------9-7---7-9---------------------------------------|
D|--------9----------------------9-----9-------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Chorus:
G G/F#
Not much to believe in
A
Left up on a shelf
G G/F#
So get your coats we're leaving
A
We'll just do something else
In the chorus, there is a synthesizer or something playing a riff which goes like this on guitar:
e|-7-5-2-0-2---------7-5-2-0-2-5---------------------------------------------|
B|-----------0---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Verse 3:
Ohhhh Everything is average nowadays
Everything is average nowadays
And everything is of no consequence
Cos everyone is sitting on the fence
And everything will always stay the same
Cos everything is average
Verse 4:
Now you said you didn't mean it
You threw away the book of rules
You thought that we should read it
I wouldn't even know how to
Chorus:
Not much to believe in
Left up on the shelf
So get your coats we're leaving
We'll just do something else
Middle 8:
B E
All I need is a ball and a wall
A G A B
Or a sledge and a hill in heavy weather x2
At this point the chords go back to the verse, along with the first riff.
Chorus:
Not much to believe in
Left up on the shelf
So get your coats we're leaving
We'll just do something else
In the background, the guitar playing the riff just before now plays this:
e|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-4----2---------------------------2----4---2-------------------2----7----9----|
D|----------5----4----2----4----5-----------------5----4----2-------------------|
A|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Verse 5:
E
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo
C#m
Everything is average nowadays

Everything is average nowadays
C#m
Everyone would do it if they can
A

| The ball and the wall issue refers in my opinion to enjoy your self by kicking the ball against the wall, as in playing football (soccer) on your own. Same for the sledge and the hill, more or less enjoyable activities which can be performed on your own. While "everyone is following the craze" you are able to remain in your own average world. | |

| Because music is all the same nowdays. All the 'new' indie craze that is happening in Britain started with bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs and now there's hundreds of bands almost copying them. If you've seen the video, you may understand more. 'everyone is following the craze' of 'indie' music. | |

| Yeah in agreement with above about leaving a small town probably cos theres nothing to do there and he/she/they are bored. Ball and a wall stuff is probably just saying they need something to do | |
