"Wuthering Heights"
-- Kate Bush
(verses A F E C#m times 2)
A F E C#m G#m
Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green.
You had a temper like my jealousy:
Too hot, too greedy.
How could you leave me,
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you. I loved you, too.
(this bit - F# F - one of these could be minor, )
Bad dreams in the night.
They told me I was going to lose the fight,
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights.
(chorus F# Eb G# C# F#
F# G# C# F# )
Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.
Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.
Ooh, it gets dark! It gets lonely,
On the other side from you.
I pine a lot. I find the lot
Falls through without you.
I'm coming back, love.
Cruel Heathcliff, my one dream,
My only master.
Too long I roam in the night.
I'm coming back to his side, to put it right.
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering,
Wuthering Heights,
Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.
Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.
( this bit - Bbm G#m F# C# )
Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
You know it's me--Cathy!

I first heard this song at the tender age of eight, and it's stuck with me through the rest of my life. I remember everything about the day, this is truly one of those songs that stays with you forever and makes you remember and feel.

Actually, what's even more ironic is when people misspell "misspell". Anyway sorry for being an ass.

this is my favorite song of all time, i heard 2 minutes of it last november on a 100 Greatest number ones tv show (it was number 49) and I thought wow! It is obviously about the book and I was inspired to read it by this song, it took me quite a while as I am only fourteen! But i loved it probably my favourite book as well! (the films not bad either, but not the original, laurence olivier's great but merle oberon just isn't cathy. Juliette binoche was amazing)

Well I would think it's pretty obvious that this song is about Wuthering Heights (der) Listening to this song prompted me to read Wuthering Heights but so far it's confusing the hell out of me.

pretty obvious that this is the first few chapters of Wuthering Heights, from cathy's point of view. i love it

also, Ive always heard the lyric as "Heathcliff, it's me YOUR Cathy" That might not be the correct lyric but that's the way it SHOULD have been.

I think Kate wrote Wuthering Heights based on the ending of the novel. The part when Catherine Earnshaw comes back for Heathcliff's soul. I think I'm not sure, but Catherine dies and comes back as some kind of ghost, and breaks heathcliff's window with her hands. She comes back for his soul so they can spend eternal life with each other. Wow now thats possesive. Overall this song is one of my fav Kate songs. Its gorgeous and stunning.
