C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
C Cmaj7 Dm Cmaj7
C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
C F
You say you wander your own land
Dm
But when I think about it
G C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
I don't see how you can
C
You're aching, you're breaking
F
And I can see the pain in your eyes
Dm
Says everybody's changing
G C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
And I don't know why
F G
So little time
C F
Try to understand that I'm
Dm G
Trying to make a move just to stay in the game
Em7 A
I try to stay awake and remember my name
Dm G C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7
But everybody's changing and I don't feel the same
Etc....
You're gone from here
Soon you will disappear
Fading into beautiful light
'cos everybody's changing
And I don't feel right
So little time
Try to understand that I'm
Trying to make a move just to stay in the game
I try to stay awake and remember my name
But everybody's changing and I don't feel the same
So little time
Try to understand that I'm
Trying to make a move just to stay in the game
I try to stay awake and remember my name
But everybody's changing and I don't feel the same

| This song is just awesome. The rhythm is unique and catchy, rather energetic and upbeat, but the vocals and lyrics are so emotional and desperate. The contrast seems to work well in this song. Perhaps the contrast is supposed to point to the "this song is about standing up for yourself" aspect of the song contrasting with the "woe is me" apsect of it. I am downloading the Hopes and Fears album now to see if I like it enough to buy it, but from the two Keene songs I've already heard (this one and "Somewhere Only We Know") I think I already know the answer. Can't help but like songs that are so emotional and whose sound is so unique. | |

| i just saw keane play on an old episode of snl and i really like this song. it really fits into my life because it just reminds me of the past. my old group of friends and i would always hang out when we were in high school and life was so innocent and happy and i was young and in love. then everything changed. some moved. some went to college. some changed. and it's sad and makes me long for the good ol' days that are long gone. | |

| I really like this song. I think I heard the singer say that it is about how everybody seems to make progress in their lives and you don`t. But what | |

| Ive just started listening to Keane they were recommended by a friend and my first impression is very good great sound with very well written lyrics. They will become big and im not too long from now. As for the comment about "over-rated" Coldplay all i have to say is they are two very good bands but i do feel coldplay wins in song writing category i mean chris martin is very good | |

| I first heard this song about 6 weeks ago and it reminded me of my friends. It seems like all of them are changing and drifting apart from each other and I'm stuck wishing everything was how it used to be. I can relate to the lyrics "everybody's changing and I don't know why." | |

| "This song is about standing up for yourself" is what Tom said at the recent gig in Bristol, but i'm not quite sure how that works. I have heard other interpretations claiming to be official from the band that say pretty much what Flame900 says, it's a song about your friends are going places while you feel you are stuck and not making much progress. | |

| Of course that people relate Keane to Coldplay and Travis because they sound alike in some way. At least, these bands are more related in their music than Atari Teenage Riot or Kiss (if you know what I mean). Anyway, this comparsion doesn't necessarily deny the own value and details of Keane's songs. About the meaning of these lyrics, they suggest me that feeling of being stuck in time among evolving people. But the fact that they're changing is not always a good thing for them... sometimes people change in a bad way, sometimes they get old prematurely. But, anyway, staying the same while the rest changes makes one feel lonely, that's for sure. And about the verse which says "Soon you will disappear / Fading into beautiful light", culd it be about death? I mean, you know: the light at the end of the dark tunnel... | |

| This song is the musical definition of "dreariness". The soundtrack to an evening spent crying over your pint. Makes Coldplay seem colourful. | |

| I back up Deacon Frost here. The song isn't just about being left behind whilst everyone else moves on (an explanation to the song on one of Keane's websites, I think) but is also about daring to be yourself despite the changes around you. The song is supposed to be inspirational as well as sad, I think (which just adds to the beauty of it). p.s. SEE KEANE LIVE, THEY ARE AMAZING!!! | |

| to me this song is about friends and other people sort of changeing and moving on while your still stuck in the same place, and you cant seem to do anything about it. i kinda feel that way now, most of my friends i have known for years are growing up, im 16 and im still in school but some have left school and gone onto college, got jobs, and i hardly see them any more, and when i do, i can see the change in them. so some parts of this song i can kinda relate to. | |

| I don't know the fading into beautiful light seems a little messianic to me.. Maybe the springtime is making me think of the Easter story.. I don't know what this song means either, my 10 year old said I should hear it.. Smart kid, cause it sure is pretty.. | |
