| I just love the line "I hold you in cupped hands and sheild you from the storm" It reminds me of lying in bed and listening to the rain outside ^____^ | |

| "only some dumb idiot/ would let you go" gives me the feeling that he's just found this girl, this great girl who's been hurt. and that he's so fantastically in love that he can't even imagine how anyone would let her go. he goes on about protecting her and making sure she's safe from then on. | |

| The lyrics of this song are among Keane's best....about finding a home in someone else out of all the people in the world...so beautiful...and also sad.... | |

| Everyone's theories are interesting, but it surprised me that no one else had had the same thought as I did. When I heard "And only some dumb idiot/ Would let you go" and then "But if I'm one thing/ Then that's the one thing/ I should know" I took it to mean that yes, he's taking care of this thing or person, but he has to let them go - only an idiot would do it, but he's calling himself an idiot and realizing that he still has to go through with it. For me this song is about letting go of something you care dearly for and as such it's bittersweet. It's about losing and finding yourself and others, or losing and finding yourself through others. | |

| This song could be taken many ways, but I think an interesting way to look at it is that in it he is speaking to our "home" Earth. "I hold you in my hands/A little animal/And only some dumb idiot/Would let you go" He seems to be talking about how we need to take care of our planet because it's the only thing we've got now for a looong time. "Out of everyone can anybody find their home" Here he seems to be asking"Does anyone realize that we need to take care of our home Earth?" It's quite a good song and it could be about love or anything really, but this is just one way you could look at it.... | |

| This is definitely my favorite song by Keane so far... I only hope this song stays off the radio because of the way they overplay Somewhere Only We Know. I love the line: "lost in the sun / can anybody find a home" It says that it is still beautiful around him, even though he is lost and questioning if there is a place for anyone, not just himself. Whether you are listening to this song for the music, vocals, or lyrics it is beautiful. | |

| this song reminds me of a relationship im in at the moment, ive been hurt in relationships a lot in the past, and one of my best firneds (a boy) andy, helped me through a really rough time after a particularly rough end with an aggressive guy, and ever since we have been inseparable, he has his crazy moments but at times he says the same thing as this song, how he'l protect me from the storms and that the other guys must have been mad to leave me like that, so ye i think its about feeling protective over a girl to shield her from th past. | |

| I think this is their best song so far. I love it! His voice is heavenly. Celetial(?). I think this song is about living things. "I hold you in my hands, A little animal And only some dumb idiot Would let you go BUT if I'm one thing, Then that's the one THING" This part I think they meant "But if I'm a living thing, than the animals have rights to live, too." I don't know. See, this is what makes their songs so powerful, you can never know what they really meant when they were writing their songs. Honestly I think Keane is way better than Coldplay. Oh I just love them so much... | |

| I totaly understand the lying and listening to rain. I used to live in a house where one room in it had a metal roof and I would just lie in bed and listen to the rain. I love this song and I think it has to do with the the importance of feeling the security of home, and that there is a home for everyone, you just have to find it. | |

| DejaVuForYou is close, but I think (and sorry for taking the Christian perspective here, but...) that this song is about God. God's holding the world in his hands and saying, "I can't let you go." And so He leads us home. Probably not it, but that's one of three ideas I had....it could be though that this song is as simple as a kid holding a baby bird in his hands and saying, "Where's your home?" OR (here's the third idea) this song is about a parent holding their little baby in their arms and making vows...yeah. Could be so many things... | |

| I think perhaps he's saying that he's found this amazing person who "only some dumb idiot" would let go, but he's afraid he's going to be that idiot. "But if I'm one thing Then that's the one thing I should know" Seems to me to not necessarily mean he's PLANNING to let her go, but that perhaps he's stupidly let people he loved go in the past, and he's afraid of the same thing happening again. | |

| I think it's about some girl who got dumped and her friend is protecting her or trying to make her feel better. I also think he's talking about her as if she is a ladybug/ladybird, "a little animal". You know how when you find a ladybug you're meant to tell it that it's house is on fire and it's children are burning so that it will fly away. Because if it flies away then you get good luck. That's what I think he's talking about in the lines "can anybody find their home", especially since he keeps repeating it. Just my thoughts. | |
