Well it's a lonely road that you have chosen

Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore

And it's a long time since your heart was frozen
Am Am7 Em
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7 Bm Bm7 D
For a moment your eyes open and you know
C Cmaj7 C Cmaj7 Bm Bm7 D
All the things I ever wanted you to know
C Bm Bm7 D
I don't know you, and I don't want to
C Bm7 D
Till the moment your eyes open and you know
(as above)
That it's a lonely place that you have run to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
And it's a lonely end that you will come to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know
Instrumental (not worked this out yet)
For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know

| i discovered this song when i typed in the title of the snow patrol album "eyes open" into my itunes library and this song came up too because of the words in its name. it's a cold song. it's quite brechtian; the guy feels no emotion towards this person who has become detached from the world; he doesn't care and he doesn't care that he doesn't care. it seems as if he used to know her, but she's changed and he doesn't like it. but then... there are moments you have with people you used to be close to, an understanding between you that nobody else could have. and they have that, and then they feel detached and the only way they can stop it from hurting is not caring. and that's all you can do. | |

| This could be about a girl who is choosing the ways she shoudln't be going, she doesnt want to see her lover anymore or want to know him. but thats not the way its supposed to be but he understands what she's going though so he is going to leave her alone.but she needs to open her eyes and see what and why she is actually doing.Well it's a lonely road that you have chosen Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore For a moment your eyes open and you know All the things I ever wanted you to know I don't know you and I don't want to Till the moment your eyes open and you know | |

| Neonbliss has pretty much the same opinion I do. I think this song is about a girl who's been through a lot, and this guy likes her, and he's done something to hurt her. But he wants her eyes to open so she can understand all the things he feels in his heart about her, so that she'll want to know him. And although they don't know one another well, he wants her to know how he feels or else "morning" will come and she'll not want to know him anymore because he hurt her. | |

| At first I thought this was about a one night stand. After reading all your comments it makes more sense that this has the same meaning as the other songs ex. "Everybody's Changing." It sounds like he tried to tell his friend or let them know that he/she has changed and his thought ends up hurting the friend. They finally realize they don't want to know eachother since they're both so hurt by the other. "I don't know you and I don't want to," is a statement of his pride I think. He's to proud to be trying to reconnect ties with his friend. It all very sad I've had too much experience with these sorts of friendships and I can absolutely relate. Brilliant song. | |

| Maybe I'm the only one, but I see this as a guy who's always liked this girl but never really knew her, he just kinda liked her from afar. And she's never noticed him because she's had her own relationship issues to deal with or she's just not into him. And then they sleep together and the next morning she regrets it. So when she opens her eyes she realizes how much he really cares for her and he wants to hate her now because it was just a one night stand, but when her eyes open, he realizes he still wants her. | |

| I LOVE this song. It's probably about a guy that is telling his friend that he is wasting his time with this girl. His friend is in denial and accuses the singer of "never being on his side." when in truth he is just trying to be helpful and helping his friend see that this girl will always take him for granted and to wait for her to stop taking him for granted... could take "your whole life, for her to open her eyes" and yes... the La la la la... is really beautiful. | |

| to me it's about a girl that has changed and has choosed to go her own way and is treating this person differently. just for an instant she realizes what she is doing, she gets it, but still doesn't react and continues being eyeclosed. the other person also knows about this and doesn't want to be with her until she opens her eyes. | |

| I love keane...I introduced this album to my girl/soon to be wife and it just took us to another level.....i feel this song is about realization....its about a relationship thats gone astray as a result of his love's mentality changing...she becomes cold and unaffectionate and doesnt want him for the right reasons...she realizes for a brief second but she doesnt change....and this is his plea to her to change | |

| I relate to this song... I think it's about a friend who TOTALLY changed and that friend has started to ignore you and think that she is better than everyone. It's basically saying I don't know you anymore and I don't want to know you... and when your eyes finally open you'll see everything that you lost by acting that way, you'll realize. | |

| beautiful song...i think the song's saying that it'll be a while if and until she finally realizes how good this is for her...but she's just spoiled and taking it all for granted. | |

| Keane have a lot of songs like this, eg everybody's changing, bedshaped, walnut tree etc about a friend forgetting about them/leaving them. | |
