Title: Somebody Told Me
Artists: The Killers
Album: Hot Fuss
Transcribed by: Erin Cox

In order to play this catchy post-80's nostalgic new wave pop mix you have to play every
using a downstrum technique. Not only is this tedious but it's fun! Kinda
song shifts along with power 5's in a continuous and relentless 4/4 meter in the key of
F#major.

Tuning: E standard (E A D G B E)

Intro

|--8---------9----11-----9-----8-----9----11---11---|
|---------------------------------------------------|
1 2 3 4 etc...etc...etc...etc...etc...etc..etc...

For this next part after the intro where he sings, "Breakin' my back just to know
your the guitarist uses a harmonic technique to get that cool helicopter effect.
To do this hold your fingers over the strings loosely, not pressing down enough
to get sound from the actual notes, but tight enough to not hear open strings vibrate...easy
smeasy right?

I've transcribed it hear to show the parts of the neck Keuning (guitarist) is hovering
and the parts he's "sliding" to.

(Hold each of these harmonics for a 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & count while sliding. Don't reach the
chord until you finish the counting slide of the other chords. This is the only part of
song that requires you to utilize upward and downward strumming in a fast pace.)

I think this is song about a rumour that he heard (rumours could be true or not true) about his girlfriend cheating on him with his old girlfriend that he used to go out with February. Which would make his girlfriend a lesbian or straight but the boyfriend would be a transvestite. Weird!! Anyhoo in the song he says "Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight" Then when he says "Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this" means that he can not experience bliss which such an issue, so he has to move on.

I like to think that this song is about trying to pull a girl and finding out she's a lesbian and went out with one of your exes... but thats because i went out with a male friend's ex girlfriend once... ooh he was so shocked lol. Although I like to twist song meanings about to relate to me. Great song though!
