Jesse

This is all true, the story with Jesse's wife was definitely the reason for him writing this song, its partially obvious because thats what you hear when you first hear this song. However, the thing with this album in general was that Jesse didn't want to make anything specific, like how one song could have many meanings. There are secular and religeous aspects to this song because it was written that way just like the rest of "Alive or Just Breathing" because this could very well mean a separation from a person or also from God. The answers aren't always obvious.

I love this song as well, one of my top favourite's from KSE and of all time. It's just one of those songs you wish you wrote yourself, and enjoy the hell out of it.

Favourite song by killswitch. Ever. Beats the pants of everything they've done, except for possibly irreversal off of their self-titled.

why try and guess what the song means when we already know what jesse has said... .. as revealed in an interview with original singer Jesse Leach: "The Element of One" is also an ode to my wife, the love she has given me and the love I have experienced from family members, and being torn away from them, in a touring situation, being away from home. I wrote that song to deal with being away from home, away from the people that I love and having to be on the road"

i think this song is saying that he will be with her no matter what, even when they both die, they will be together in heaven, i also believe that like my last serenade is special to jesse, that this song is special to their bassist mike d antonio
