Song:Milk
Artist:Kings of Leon
Album:A-Ha Shake Heartbreak
Tabber:Alexthebeatle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

HERE IT IS:CALEB'S FAVOURITE SONG OF A-HA SHAKE HEARTBREAK:
NOTE:(I've put the basic chords even the kings don't play any guitar chord
in this song)

This is played all trough the song:
Bm C#m A
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
----------9------11-----7------------------
-------------------------------------------
------7-------9------5-------------5-6-7---

CHORUS:this is the powerful BASS line of the chorus:
Bm C#m D
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
-7--7--7--7--9--9--9--9--10--10--10--10--10--10--10--10-

Bm C#m A (let Ring the A note)
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-7--7--7--7--9--9--9--9--5---------------------

Guitar doubles this and goes briefly while bass rings at the end:
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------
----10-9--------10-9-------
-7------------7------------

Then this beautiful BASS line:
----------------------------------------------
------------------------4--4------------------
---------5-----7--7-----------7--5------5-----
-5---7-----7-------------------------7--------

Again, in a brief interval:
Bm C#m A
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
----------9------11-----7------------------
-------------------------------------------
------7-------9------5-------------5-6-7---

Bass plays first riff again and in the first line Matthew gives us a little lick, fit it
in where it goes:
----------------------------
----------------------------
----------------------------
12--9--x12--x9--/////16-----
----------------------------
----------------------------

Bass part repeated, play lick over bass:
Bm C#m D
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
-7--7--7--7--9--9--9--9--10--10--10--10--10--10--10--10-

Play five times,then:

Bm C#m A (Let Ring the A note)
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-7--7--7--7--9--9--9--9--5---------------------

With the guitar bit at the end:
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------
----10-9--------10-9-------
-7------------7------------

Then the great little riff at the end played over the bass:

Palm Mute strings
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
-12--9--x12--x9--///14-----12--9--x12--x916--------------
|----------------------------------------------------- |--|

---------------------------------------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------- |--|
--12--9--x12--x9--12----12--9--x12--x9--7-------------
|----------------------------------------------------- |--|

Play this about 4 times, then the outro is simply the intro twice:
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
----------9------11-----7------------------
-------------------------------------------
------7-------9------5-------------5-6-7---

------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's all. In this song as well as in TRANI, you can hear the biggest Kings of
Without playing chords, they've created the best
acoustic song ever.

"she has problems with drinking milk" could just be a vivid description; or maybe she was just lactose intolerant?

dunno what its about but i do love it! it reminds me of things...i don't know what though!? this song is just amazing when you really listen to the lyrics. Think tardy means late.

Am i the only one who thinks the chorus is about a teenage girl? Hourglass body - perfect figure, hasnt lost it to age yet Problems with drinking milk - as you get older you stop being so picky about your food and stuff, y'know. Or "milk" could be sexual, ie semen or something, but im starting to doubt this song is sexual at all. Being school tardy/loan you her toothbrush/bartend your party - typical teenage activities, y'know, still at school, having people crash at house, working at a local bar to earn some bucks, whatever. No idea how it fits to the overall song...perhaps he had a short relationship with some girl, who took part in his old-guy stuff (going to the matinee and drinking wine and stuff, i dunno i'm not old yet lol), but she got bored and left him ("stay for me," etc) for some other guy ( "he's on his own but his own is you" - to be literal about that, it means the new guy is busy having sex with her lol).
