| I listened to this song time and time again. I believe is trying to explain what its like to make an impact anywhere, but your efforts are discarded."i face this as a soldier would, but useless is my war" It is not good for the soul to feel anger or disappointment. | |

| I stronly believe that all kids will face a war with themselves at one point, and I know that there are a lot of songs about that these days. Many artists want kids to feel that they aren't alone with their problems, like someone else has gone through the same thing. I used to feel comfort in knowing that someone else has been through what I had, cos I felt like an outcast from everyone else who had not gone through the same... A lot of teens will go through times where they want to die, or they feel distraught, whatever, and a lot of the time they turn to music to comfort them. Even though this isn't really about this song, I just wanted to point it out. I think this is a really good example of what I was talking about though, and a good song. Ciao. | |

| I believe it's about finding your true self. "Release me from myself, release From my duality " it's about internal conflicts and wanting to be free of them. "I face this as a soldier would But useless is my war The innocence that smiles today Tomorrow will be lying " since it's related to "release me...", it's about fighting the ghosts. but it doesn't matter whether you 'win' or not since your innocence that let you appreciate life today will turn into another illusion later. "Now I'm digging to the bone All the painting Scratching at flesh, drives me mad To be alive and free " it's the strongest refenrence to getting rid of the shallowness, lies, etc and to go to the essential. "And the ghosts I keep inside myself How do they see me? " the ghosts could be your just insecurities or the feeling that other people judge you. excuse me for my english. long time, no practice. | |

| This song is about feeling guilt for doing something terrible and having to live with it and wishing you could just let it go and be happy. One of Lacuna Coil's best!! | |
