| i think this song is about somebody being taught what true evil is, and how to become it, how to bring somebody down, and how to master the things needed to break somebody. Also, teaching the student what mastery of these things bring, i.e. mastering fear, pain, and hatred, will give you power. these things are the art of ruin. song is actually pretty self explanatory. on that end, i strongly disagree with what ferry said, arkaic laid down what he thought, he didn't imply in any way that he thought the D.I.'s should do what the recruits do. even though anybody who knows anything about the military knows that D.I.'s RDC's, T.I.'s and D.S's knows that they have to go through far more then recruits to even attain that job... | |

| I can't believe this song has not been commented on. I may not have any of lamb of god's cd's yet but I want them because I heard this song. The singer is awesome, especially in this song. I like the part : Fear Pain Hatred Power. The singer kind of stresses the power part and it sounds awesome. Anyways i love this song. | |

| Why do so many people come on to this site and not discuss the sons meanings?.. BTW I know this msg isn't discussing the meanings... And also why doesn't anyone appreciate the musicians??? Eveyone always talks about the singer... is it because the singer is "at the front"? Therefore he must be "the best"?.. | |

| I never said that's what Randy intened the lyrics to be, but it's still the way I interpret them. It makes more sense logically then the military reference anyway. | |

| i agree with dying inside. i made a shitty display name for song meanings. it shoudnt be "half punk half jock it should be "half LAMB OF GOD IS THE BEST FUCKING METAL BAND EVER half jock. and dying inside is right. theres a big huge meaning to this song and lamb of god has way more skill then for example: taking back sunday, and there getting like 400 comments on one song about like a girl that broke his heart and heres the best fucking band ever getting jack shit. just the sound of lamb of god just makes u want 2 go fucking destroy somebody u hate. fuck all the new mainstream pop punk trend. punk is kool but good charllet and simple plan deserve to go and open for lamb of god at a concert like killadephia and get like murderd by all the hardcore lamb of god fans. viva la metal! fuck mainstream! seriously fuck mainstream i wanna fuckin destroy all the poser "emo kids" emo is actually people that cut there self becasue there depressed and think they cant feel feelings. and now there are assholes around with scars on there wrists and wearing good charlott t- shirts. pop punk started a fucking trend of cutting ur self. what the fuck has the world come to? lamb of god is sending that message threw there music. which i respet. | |
