The Lawrence Arms
'Brickwall Views'
I've finally decided to start tabbing a load of Lawrence arms songs, as i can't find any,
anywhere.
I did porno and snuff films ages ago and forgot about it, so i did this one today. It's one
of my
favourites off apathy.
The rhythems easy so i'm not going to put it out, here you go:
Mute G-9
D-9
A-7 For the first part, then
Verse 1 (Clean) Pre-Chorus
E--------------|-------|-----------------------------|
B--------------|-------|-----------------------------|
G--9-----------|--9----|--9--------------------------|
D--9--9--7-----|--9--9-|--9--9--7--------------------|
A--7--9--7-----|--7--9-|--7--9--7--------------------|
E-----7--5-----|-----7-|-----7--5--------------------|
Chorus
E----------------|
B----------------|
G--9-----9-------|
D--9--7--9--9--7-|
A--7--7--7--9--7-|
E-----5-----7--5-|
Bridge
E--------------|
B--------------|
G--9-----9-----|
D--9--9--9--7--|
A--7--9--7--7--|
E-----7-----5--|
Slow bit (Also technically the Bridge)
E--------------|
B--------------|
G--9-----------|
D--9--9--7-----|
A--7--9--7-----|
E-----7--5-----|
Clean, then distorted
Bit at the end where he sings 'when we don't know...'
E--------------|
B--------------|
G--9-----9-----|
D--9--9--9--7--|
A--7--9--7--7--|
E-----7-----5--|
Clean then distorted
Outro
E--------------------|
B--------------------|
G-9--11--11-12--8--9-|
D-9--11--X--X---X--X-|
A-7--9---9--10--6--7-|
E--------------------|
(Just keep strumming when playing this part so it all goes together)
Then
E-----------|
B-----------|
G-9--11-12--| - Do the same as above here
D-9--X--X---|
A-7--9--10--|
E-----------|
Then play the bridge and finish on G-9-
D-9-
A-7-
OK, Enjoy.

| I love this song, it sounds pretty up-beat, but I think its actually a really meloncolly song. I think its about realising that your friends aren't the people they used to be, and that you have very little in common anymore and about how no matter what you do, you can't stop them drifting out of your life. | |

| woop de doo. Mind you, i know the whole 'its still good music' rule but it's not as good when everyone likes the band, not just a small group. Dont ask me why.. | |

| and now this smile has a bitter curve and now these eyes are unenchanted and all we see, is a faded image of what we used to be how can we relate I can't count how many times I've sung these lyrics over in my head every time my life chages, whether its moving, graduating, leaving home, a breakup, anything kind of transition that leaves a bittersweet taste, this song epitomises it | |

| Yea i pretty much agree with the consensus. I have that feelling a lot when i see old friends and you have nothing to talk about because you haven't been talking to each other as often as you used to. the last line expresses that. it's an empty feeling when you think about how you used to get along so well. "catching up" sucks because you're just finding out what they've been doing, not sharing interests. | |

| This song and the whole album is epic...anything that gets a car full of dudes to throw their hands up at the sky is great. Saw them in Hollywood last month and they were so wasted they couldn't play. Finally a band that backs up all their lyrics about drinking. | |

| I love this whole cd, it's surprising how many people view these songs but don't comment. I added abracadaver and right as rain and your gravest words (yay me!) and you guys should check them out, I think abracadaver is best on the album though. | |

| to me this song just seems to describe coming home after moving away and everything changing and not being able to relate to the people you grew up with who you used to be so close to, and how these relationships tend to fall apart. this one is probably my favorite song that chris sings. | |

| i love the 'when we don't know a thing about each other anymore?' part of the song, how it builds up toward the end. | |
