A fair chunk of the credit should go to Jeff Lo who originally sent in some
TAB for this great acoustic piece. I made quite a few additions and
corrections but I couldn't have done it without him making a start.
There are already two versions of this at Nevada with different tunings.
I tried them both, but they're not so good. Take my word for it : this
version is virtually note for note what you hear on the record. Give it a
try and I think you'll soon agree.
Please note - the exact details of the strumming etc are not included.
Where a chord is repeated I have indicated that, but check out the record
to be sure if he strums it 2, 3 or 4 times before changing shapes.
What you have here is the TAB of all the changes, which is all you really
need.
There is a part which cannot really be played on one guitar - the bit where
an electric guitar plays a little descending run while the acoustic plays
chords. I've tabbed both parts for this - Guitar 1 is the acoustic, Guitar 2
is the electric.
Also - the main part of the TAB (upto the bit marked 'Variation') is repeated
quite a few times. I havn't shown the repeats because once you know how
to play it it's obvious when it repeats again.
The Variation bit replaces the equivalent two lines of TAB above it. I think this
variation comes just before the 'heavy' bit where the drums and loud electric
start up. I didn't TAB out the guitar for this - it's basically just chords of :

| I think that alot of the 'heavier' bands that are out there today don't have the balls to play something this emotion sensitive. | This song makes me wish I'd lived in 70's. Growing up in a time with such crap as Linkin Park really depresses me when I hear a song like The Rain Song. The sheer beauty and feeling in the lyrics and guitar (the guitar!) makes everything in my generation sound half-baked, disconnected, manufactured. The song itself is a masterpiece; I can't believe I didn't hear about it before I heard it. Here's my take on the lyrics: this person loved somebody who didn't necessarily love them back. Then the lover thinks the lovee loves him, and he gets his hopes up (the summer of my smiles--the warmth of love). Finally, the lovee hooks up with someone else, and the lover is disappointed, but figures this is just the way things go. The acoustics of this song are simply phenomenal. The guitars, the piano...again, you simply don't get this in new music. | |

| This song actually got me back togather with my girlfriend, after we broke up for a few months, i came back home from school and she wanted to see me, we started dancing to wild horses by the stones, then i put this on and one thing led to another and we are still togather, and that was last march, , the song perfectly describes it to, how its the second season of my loving, and i watched the fire that was our love nearly burn out, oh yea its about lotr because it rained in lotr | |

| I'm pretty surprised that there is only 1 post here. Rain Song is the epitomy of a beautiful song. Yes, the lyrcis are short and sweet, but deep to say the least. As for the instrumentals, absolutely mind blowing. The damn piano at the climax of the song is beyond words. Thank heavens I have a more inspriational interpretation of the song. To me, it's simple. He simply pondering the ups and downs (symolized by the different seasons) of (new) love and the next step of devotion. | |

| wow. i saw Robert Plant on tour with the Who... and he's awesome. the LedZeppelin songs he and his band played were amazing. this song rocks. i think its about a relationship. They've got this fire (burning passion) for the other, but it "rains" and one person doesn't feel like that anymore. yet the other person is still in love with them. and they're realizing, "Upon us all a little rain must fall".
