Trampled Underfoot by Led Zeppelin

There are only a few guitar parts essential to the song.
There are also some fills played with a wah-wah, but theyre
not that hard to figure out(though they are to remember).
There are several guitars doubling various parts of the song
and some have a wah-wah on them.

Heres the main riff:

e---------------------------------------------------------------------------
b-2-3-----------------------------------------------------------------------
g-2-3--2-3-0-------0--------------------------------------------------------
d------------3-0-3----------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this ascending part:

e------5-5-5-------7-7-7---------10-10-10----------12-12-12-----------------
b---------------------------------------------------------------------------
g--4/6---------6/8---------9/11--------------11/13--------------------------
d---------------------------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And after that this is played:

e--11--11-------------------------11-11-------------------------------------
b--11--12--11-12------------------11-12-11-12-------------------------------
g-----------------12-10----10-12--------------12-10----10-12---------------
d-----------------------12--------------------------12----------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the chord before the keyboard solo and at the end of the song:

e---------------------------------------------------------------------------
b---------------------------------------------------------------------------
g---7-----------------------------------------------------------------------
d---5-----------------------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats really about it except for the wah-wah bits here and there.
Enjoy,
CHUCK

I think this song seems to be an analogy of women through cars.

While the dualism about cars and women may seem novel, it's not. Take for instance the E. E. Cummings poem "She Being Brand New" written in 1926: http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~empueschel/otherpeople/brandnew.html ..oh, but you're all so intellectual. :-D

I dont think this song has anything to do with cars...it's metaphorical for SEX. Which a lot of zep songs are about. I love this song. It is ridiculously dirty, but if I was alive in the 70s and of the proper age, I wouldn't mind making the members of led zeppelin happy by letting them fix my car. ::wink,wink::

Wow. never realized how dirty this was till i read the lyrics. Well, Robert Plant is so amazingly sexy it is unbelievable. Even now there is something sexy about him. Not many old guys can you say that about. I love these lyrics and i would be happy if Robert did any of htes things to my ..um..car

I think he mentions at one point that he's 'talkin' 'bout love', that's what I think this song is about.

This song always reminded me of "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers. The lyrics are obviously sexual metaphors in the form of automotive terms.

I tend to hear bonham coming through in this song...Ever seen song remains the same?.....If you claim to be azeppelin fan and haven't...somethins wrong ;) ......anyhow......Bonham's got a gorgeous old truck totally pimped out.....He was the total car guy.....I think Robert Plant "just can't stop tlakin about love"....uses any analogy he can to talk about girls, sex, all that jazz......He's a sex god....not many can pull it off....but he does it Famously!

Is it me or does this song sound a whole lot like "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers?
