Actualla tallica buff, I think he may mean four takes of the song, and now they are working till it's done. I dunno, that's a guess.

Uhm...strange anyway that "...for the high hopes hailla ball"...it doesn't even rhyme exactly with "door"...to be honest when I crank up the volume to the max I'd say that I can hear instead something like "...I'm headed for" (which would rhyme nicely with "door")

The line "high hopes hailla ball" is definitely not what they say in the song. Speculation has been made whether it's something like "cuz it's hell I'm heading for" (which is my guess as well) and "got a hellhound on my tail". The song is in fact about the fans at a concert. If you listen closely during the bridge in the middle of the song you can hear a phone ring as well.

The song isn't just about the crowds or his daughter, it's about both. Plant narrates this exultant image of the crowds he sings to. He sang for the oceans and mountains of people, but now he sings for his daughter. This doesn't mean that he doesn't sing to oceans or mountains of people any longer, it just means that the emotion he is putting into his music is now for his daughter. The song basically compares his daughter to the ocean, showing that he loves her more than any ocean or mountain (real or metaphorical) you could conceive of. Even if the mountains and oceans were or are great.

a beautifal rock song..it has a lot of different parts and it works..I'm not sure about the lyrics but this song really makes you feel good.. the girl he sings about is in fact his daughter cause he keeps changing her age

Robert does sing "high hopes hailla ball" houses of the holy is the only led zeppelin album with lyrics in the liner notes and that's what they read

Has anyone ever put on their head phones, and cranked up this song extremely loud. Did you ever notice the squeek in John Bonhams bass drum pedal. Just an interesting little fault in a great album. This can also be heard in the song "Since I've Been Lovin You"

I always thought that instead of "high hopes hailla ball" he said "hit I never scored" which kind of goes with it but is probally off. I also think that when he says "She is only three years old and it's a real fine way to start" he was talking about the band since this song came out in 1972 and the band formed in 69. Overall, it is one of my favorite zep tunes, IT ROCKS!
