The intro and the outro piano is so haunting... just makes you feel the trance... if your lonely it'll make you feel more lonely... if your inlove it'll make you feel more inlove... What more can you say to the composer...

And as far as the user Unready is concerned....I am not trying to point out your incompetence, which is apparent....but the hippie generaton was really from about 1965-about 1973 or 1974 this song was written in 1980, so he wrote this a little while after the hippie culture.....But i must say....the late 60's were a time to be alive....great times.

Yeah but did you ever notice that you feel like this when you're in love?!?! It's like when you're with that person, everything you two do is "love"

haha i think he's talking about the opposite of free love. He's talking about the untouchable bond between two ppl and how all they need is the love from one another.

John Lennon was simply a master at capturing the moment through music. This evokes lovley emotions when you listen to it no matter what your relationship status is. It's obvious what the song is about. It's also obvious how beautiful it is. And just so you know hippies were the farthest thing from communists. Sure they had more human moral standards than certain high up politicians, but that does not make them communist. Some people will classify anyone that wants a radical change a communist. Look at the McCarthy Era. The government was so quick to blacklist anybody that they thought was a threat. The government is actually quite good with this kind of paranoia. The FBI actually spied on Lennon because he wanted change and they tried to report him Un-American. When in fact he loved America. New york was one of his favorite places in the world. And sadly, he ended up getting shot because of it. Lennon was one, if not the, greatest minds to ever grace this world. if you don't respect him for his speeches or movements, then respect him for not being afraid to speak his mind. Respect him for having some decency. I mean, afterall, he was a Beatle.
