Artist: Lifehouse
Song: Broken
Album: Who We Are
Intro - Asus, F#m, E
Relative to Capo 2nd fret
Asus Asus
The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Asus F#m E
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
Asus Asus
I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts
Asus F#m E
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out
Asus F#m E
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
Asus F#m E
With a broken heart that's still beating
Asus F#m E
In the pain there is healing
Asus F#m E
In your name I find meaning
Asus
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
F#m E
I'm barely holdin' on to you
>>>> Same thing through the second verse and chores
The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose, they're still looking for life
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain is there healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you
Asus F#m E
I'm hanging on another day just to see what you will throw my way
Asus
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
F#m E
You said that I will be ok
Asus Asus
The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
Asus F#m E
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you
I'm holdin' on
I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you
Great song!!!! Hope you enjoy :)

| so, the lyrics are botched a bit: "maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time" "the broken locks were a warning...you got inside my head" "i'm hanging on, another day.." "the broken lights on the freeway, left me here alone..." great lyrics, good song overall. | |

| If you're gonna post lyrics on here (I see you're like 13 years old), make them CORRECT OR D@MN CLOSE. I see this everytime I get on this site it seems like. When you get the lyrics as WRONG as you did, you completely change the context of the song. I understand you prob got them from some obscure place on the internet or AOL first listen, but don't post it if you're not sure. Sorry to sound so angry, but it just annoys me when people just make up lyrics and post them. (Deep breath). Anyway, here are the correct lyrics from the CD booklet-jasonwadeofcourse, copy and paste this so it is correct: The broken clock is a comfort It helps me sleep tonight Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts I am damaged at best like you've already figured out I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a Broken heart That’s still beating In the pain There is healing In your name I find meaning So i'm holding on holding on holding on i'm barely holding on to you the broken locks were a warning You got inside my head I tried my best to be guarded I'm an open book instead I still see your reflection inside my eyes that are looking for purpose they're still looking for life Chorus I'm hanging on Another day Just to see what you will Throw my way And I'm hanging on to the words you say You said that I will Be ok The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone I may have lost my way now Haven't forgotten my way home Chrous I'm holdin' on (Im still holdin')x8 or so | |

| I LOVED this song right when I first heard it...and then one line totally ruined it. When he says "...lost my way now," it seriously sounded like "...lost my weiner." Now I can't listen to the song without hearing that. Did anyone else hear it? This sucks. | |

| pinkbutterfly is exactly right... i've been listening to lifehouse for awhile and i didnt think that they put religion into really any of their songs so i knew thats not what this song is about. Its about a trip wade took to nashville to visit his friend who was having a kindey transplant. Also if you really know lifehouse well, you know that he put himself in the subjects shoes... as in he's talking in this song as if he is his friend who is having a transplant. | |

| I guess I see the kidney transplant thing makes sense. Lets reevaluate this. "the broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight" analysis: when you're awaiting something so drastic, a procedure that can make a different between life and death, time seems like the most nontrivial thing in the world. you feel every second of each minute because you're anxious of what's to come. you can't sleep. now that the clock, or "time" is broken, you're more at ease. less anxious. "and i am here still waiting, though i still have my doubts" analysis: involving yourself in something like this, getting close to someone who might not make it, that's scary and requires a lot of security. he's doubting putting himself close to the person in the situation. but he wants to be there for his friend, so he's staying, although he's damaging internally. "i'm falling apart, i'm barely breathing..." analysis: paralleling himself with his friend, he's weakening so much, but at the end of the tunnel there is light, "there is healing" "the broken locks were a warning, you got inside my head, i tried by best to be guarded, i'm an open book instead" analysis: again, having to do with his uncertainty of involving himself on someone he may soon lose forever. he tried to be guarded from the situation, he tried to be ambivalent and not think too much about what was at risk. but he couldn't, he's outwardly "falling apart," letting his guard down. "broken lights on the freeway left me here alone, i may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home" analysis: the last hurrah. he's broken, but hes growing from it, there is hope yet. | |

| lifehouse have heaps of religous songs, so theres no reason this one would be any different, but im not sure in this case, a song can be about more than one thing though, so it might be a mix of a few things. other very religous songs include 'everything' 'anchor' 'crown of thorns' 'storm' and many more, but like i said i dont think this one is outrightly religous though it may have some overtones | |

| I love music because you can take the same song and get so many different interpretations. But, with this one… Mine seems to be a bit different than other peoples. Ok. I see where the whole Jesus thing is coming from… but then again I don’t see it in this song. Maybe it’s because I’m not so much of a religious person, or maybe it’s because I’ve already formed a different opinion on the story behind the song. Also… the kidney thing. It could be true. Maybe that inspired him to write the song… But really, I don’t see how it would be about getting a kidney transplant. It’s about a broken heart… not kidney… Maybe I just don’t see where you guys are going with this. So, this was one of my favorite songs off the new cd… So I formed a little story in my head right off the bat. I saw it as there was something that hurt him, and he still hadn’t gotten over it. Like maybe a recent break up, or a loss of someone close. Something that would have his mind a jumble and his feeling all bent out of shape. Anyways. Going along… Somebody (most likely a girl) comes into his life and is able to break down those walls he put up around himself. In the end, she basically becomes his anchor, if you will, and gives him hope to carry on. Ok… Maybe it could be about his friend in the hospital and him getting over it… But I don’t see this song really as him in his shoes… and getting a kidney. Ok… Well… Maybe in some out of the box way it’s his friends point of view of him going through the ordeal and somebody nursing him back to himself… I donno. I like what Jason Wade did with this song. It can be shaped and formed to fit so many different stories! | |

| Bash me or hate me but in my opinion this song is about Jesus. "In the pain There is healing" The cross and his suffering which brought healing and cleansing to us humans. "In your name I find meaning" is about Jesus' name and finding out who we are in Christ. and last but not least "Well i'm hanging on to the words you say" is the Bible God's word to instruct, guide, and comfort us. My meager two cents do with it what you will. | |

| Its about a transplant. I found this on their official site: The wrenching ballad “Broken,” with a chorus that recalls the Police’s “Every Breath You Take,” came out of a trip Wade took to Nashville to visit a dear friend waiting on a kidney transplant, as once again he identifies in first person: “I’m falling apart/I’m barely breathing/With a broken heart/That’s still beating/In my pain/There is healing/In your name/I find meaning/So I’m holding on/Barely holding on to you.” | |
