deadpeopleehot:- first, disturbing username, second, you stick to your music, i'll stick to mine, everyone is free to comment, and all that, but general criticism just ain't cool. I like this song. And I'm sure I like some songs that you do too. Have you ever listened to this song? Seriously, it means a lot to some people, and its a really heartfelt song, as are other songs, but theres no reason to just slag a song (or, an artist, in your case) off, without at least constructive critisism. I don't like some artists on principle, but I keep it to myself, or make constructive comments, thats what the site is about, not just having a go at other people cos they like music you don't. example: goosy1281: self-confessed non-fan, but still made an entirely decent comment. good on you, goosy. Serious, s'what the site as all about. /rant New years... thats my excuse. Onto the actual song. This song means a lot to me, mainly cos of the reasons other people have said, parents breaking up, and all the b*ll*cks that comes with it. Its an awful thing to go through, so full credit to Lindsay for being able to sing a song so heartfeltly (ok, so thats not a word, but you know what i mean) about such a sensitive and powerful subject.

Agreed with Music_Psycho, my father also left when I was 2, when my mother moved to the states with us, he tagged along but soon left afterwards before my 3rd birthday, he went back to the UK and never heard from him since, so this song means a lot to me aswell, Lindsay Lohan has done something no one else ever has in American Music Industry, she made a song of family problems instead of whining about not getting laid by someone, no one else could ever make this song as well as Lindsay Lohan has, her vocals are beautiful, I personally am not a Lindsay Lohan fan, but this song most definately catches my feelings and my interests.

^(Im the post above too) Anyway, I also think the part in the video clip where people are watching Lindsay cry and her parents argue, is supposed to show that Lindsay grew up infront of the camera, so everyone has seen what she's gone through. Basically, I think the song means her father was never there for her, and by messing up his life, he messed up his whole familys. All Lindsay wanted was a dad, but he never tried to be one for her. She still wants him to be her dad, but she dosin't even know if he loves her or not... Just my opinion =)

While I'm not a Lindsay fan, I really appreciate this song- when she says "I dream of another you, one who would never, never leave me alone to pick up the pieces"... My parents split up a few months ago and it's the most painful thing in the world for me because i was really close to my father, and he went back to england and left me basically in charge of my ten and twelve year old siblings because my mother is a mess because of him, and she basically leaves all the parenting to me, and when she comes out of her slump she basically yells at me for not being good enough... anyways... This is a good song. I love it. Very heartfelt.

I take back everything I've ever said about Lindsay Lohan. I love this song so much it makes me want to cry. My dad left my family after being put in jail for breaking my mom's wrist. I called the police. I've never forgiven myself for it. I was four, my mom was screaming 'call 911, call 911.' Did I mention that he's an alchoholic and he impregnated my sixteen-year-old cousin? And I still love him more than my mom. This and "Because of You" are the best things pop music has ever given us. I could take scenes from my life and stick it into this song and make a perfect music video (though someone's going to ask why the anorexic girl isn't as thin as Lindsay.)

i'm not usually into pop music, but this song really means alot to me because my father wasn't exactly there for me my entire life. he was abusive to my mother and i. they're divorced now, but this song always reminds me about him, and how i still love him because he's my father. i really like this song, and lindsay's voice is pretty good, better that hilary's (that skank)

I actually like this song because it reminds me of when my parents first split. Now they get along fine, but they are still fighting. It's pretty much her feelings to her father. And the video-with her singing and showing her sister, as well as her 'parents' fighting' behind the glass walls is probably to show how the media has put her family behind glass walls like freaks at the circus-showing off her personal problems to the whole world like it's all our business. If you watch, in the very beginning of the video, it's just her, and no one is really looking. Then people begin to crowd around her as soon as her past and her parent's relationship is brought up-a good symbol of how the media is focusing on her personal life rather than minding their own.

yeh this song is definitely about the pain that fathers leave behind when they walk out on their families. about how its NOT easy to get over, especially if you loved them. "i wear all your old clothes, your polo sweater", a way of making lindsay feel comfort from her dad, even though he isn't there. as she grows older (in the song) she realises that maybe he just didn't love her so he just walked out without feeling pain.

Wow Lindsey got real deep! I personally think this song is really good and very original. I've also had some problems w/ my father too, so i feel all you guys that posted stuff about ur dads. but i think the most intense and most emotional part of the song is when she's like '' I.....I LOVE YOU'' ...gives me the chills everytime. definitely a good song.

Well in a personal way, this song means a lot to me. I had a father who was anything but there. My mom divorced him when I was 2 because he was abusive and stuff like that, and I have always wondered if he loves me. So I kinda know what Lindsey Lohan means and how she feels when singing this song because even thought i really dont know my dad, and i hate him, somehow i want to and i still love him because that is just natural with him being my father. GREAT SONG! it gave me the chills.

I love the line " I wait for the postman to bring me a letter" because it opens and closes the song so well! And it pretty much summerizes the entire song. It shows that shes waiting to see if her dad even cares about her. She still has hope that they can somehow bond. She still wants to work things out...so shes waiting...

Poor Lindsay.I think that what she is trying to tell with this song is that her father was never there for her and he never showed her if he ever loved her and he was always treating her not so well and how much has she suffer and all the pain she has been through because of that. I understand.
