I have always thought that he said,"Hurting me the wounds soon scar/ New cuts cover where the old ones are". I don't know if I could say this song is about Self Injury but that's what I've always took it to mean. I've SIed for three years now and I feel like this song explains me so well. It's my favorite song by my favorite band. I think alot of their songs can be taken towards self injury but the band members are very private and I've never heard anything about them and SI. Some of those lyrics up there I think are wrong...but I think people should take the song however it affects them and keep it that way. I feel less alone by relating it to SI.

all u people say u relate to this song but i noticed most of u dont even know what its really about... most people wouldnt understand unless they had been through it... like i have... Wanna cut it out of my soul And just live with a gaping hole ... Hurting me, the routine scar New cuts cover where the old ones are And I'm sick of this... these parts of the song are talking about cutting himself and also his frustration that he keeps doing it... i know from experience how bad it is because it is addictive and almost impossible to stop... Once it's been dealt with you feel like you've been touched by something angelic And then melted down into a pool of peace Cease to be the animal you used to be Remove the broken parts you know were wrong And feel the karma when the problem's all gone And then you start to see another piece of yourself that you can't let be and this verse discusses the relief felt after he cuts himself and then how he finds something else wrong and it starts all over again... once u read into it, i think the meaning of this song is very clear and serious and i CAN relate to it

the good old days... when lp made really good music... before they sold out... takin the same old music and makin it shittier and lettin other fags rap overtop of it and sellin it for MORE money... perfect definition of sellout... why arent they good enough to write some NEW music? oh well this song is good at least... i love linkin park... but only anything that came before reanimation...

this song is fucking amazing. soundtrack to my life. "Sometimes I think of letting go And never looking back And never moving forward so There would never be a past " best part of the song. it's about not being able to deal with all the shit your faced with in life and just wanting to get away from it all.

i think this song is about having problems, with past, present, and future, etc =P but no one will listen to you, to help you with them, so you just repress the feelings you have, and just run away. like most lp songs, i love this song, and i can relate to it (well, at least my strange meanings to their songs =P).

I LOVE this song! One of my favorites that LP has done. I think we've all felt like this at one time or another.
