Heres a great song by Live. it was played heaps on radio with
the recent tragic events in the US. its a song that both touched
our hearts and helped ease the pain of those who lost loved ones.
Its originally played on piano, but im tabbing it for guitar. you
may like to finger-pick some of the chords to make more of an impact.
Ive done my best with the timing.

| Jenna's information goes the longest way for me of explaining all the lyrics... I don't know that many Live songs, actually, but from what I've heard, there seems to be an almost ecstatic mystical streak to a lot of them. I think of stuff I read by Jellaludin Rumi and St. John of the Cross where the poet dissolves into God, which is a kind of death (holy drowning, maybe?). Lyrics like "the world is bleeding" and "women in the streets pulling out their hair" do evoke the tragedies of the world. It just doesn't make sense to me that, with "holy water" and "beautiful drowning", these are what he's overcome by in this song. Still, the emotional tone is somehow fitting for all sorts of situations, as many here have noted. | |

| The song was released early because the band thought that if fit in well after 9-11 and thought that people could relate to it. It isn't about 9-11 but it came out around 9-11 because of how it relates. | |

| I heard the same interview on WXRK, jel, and I do remember the song being released on the Live website (obviously an unfinished version) the day after 9/11 as a way for the band to help their fans cope. It is such a great moving song, and really captures it, I feel. I love the first few lyrics, and being in Manhattan on that day, I could totally relate to the "women in the street pulling out their hair" line. The look on people's faces that day, hell, the look on MY face that day, was something I'll never forget. The helplessness was an unbelievable feeling. I've cried everytime I've heard this song. | |

| can't everybody relate to the feeling of sometimes drowning under the crushing weight of life? this song is so touching...whether you relate it to national tragedy or just your own personal tragedy, it's a rare song with the ability to make you wonder....just one question: what is the holy water? i am overcome by this song... | |

| Drowning under the weight of life, perhaps? It just sounds so mournful and harrowing. Overcome by the despair of life. | |

| i not quite sure but i am thinking that its about being trapped in this ugly world that people hate and in the darkness of it all finding the love of God. he is overcome by the love of God because the earth is so dark and ugly. but still i'm not sure. | |
