Verse:
2xRiff 1, B5 F5, 5xRiff 1, B5 C5, 3xRiff 1
Prechorus:
B5 F5, Riff 1, B5 C5, Riff 2, Riff 3, Riff 2, Riff 3
Chorus:
B5 F5, C5 G5, D5 Dmaj7, F5 C5
B5 F5, C5 G5, D5 Dmaj7, F5 C5
and so on...
He plays G blues all the time, sounds very jazzy however.
At the end of the (fast) Outro he repeats 4 notes of Riff 3.
lyrics as in the CD booklet:
verse
Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of Personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
prechorus
I'm the (3x) Cult of Personality
chorus
Neon lights, a Nobel price
The mirror speaks, his reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free
verse
I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your tv
I'm the Cult of Personality
I exploit you still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Ghandi
prechorus
I'm the (3x) Cult of Personality
chorus
Neon lights, a Nobel price
The mirror speaks, his reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free
You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You gave me power in your God's name
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the Cult of Personality

| Interesting fact, thanks for sharing that. I would consider Malcom X and JFK cults of personality, so the quotes fit. They probably have a deeper meaning that fits the lyrics and the meaning given to us right here previously, by discovery21. But I can't be bothered with writing what I think right now... | |

| The opening line is "And in the few moments we have left, we want to talk right down to earth in a language that everybody here can easily understand." This is Malcolm X, from his "Message To The Grass-Roots" speech in 1963. The point of it was to unify African-Americans. The ending quote is John F. Kennedy's famous "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." This is from his inaugural address in 1961. | |

| I think this song is also a bit about subverting your own identity to an organization or belief. It speaks of the damage that can be done by even the best intentioned (Gandhi, Kennedy - in the video they show Martin Luther King Jr., too). The power comes form the people, and if you give yourself over to a group, the group has the power and not the individual. | |

| A great song. A Cult of Personality is someone who gathers up a fanbase of people, and as this person's popularity begins to rise, the fanbase becomes blind, believing anything the Cult of Personality tells them. I really admire the writer of this song, bringing up controversial people like Kennedy, and Gandhi. | |
