This is one of the best songs off of LBC's new album "Commitment"
If you play your D chord like this the song sounds much much better! enjoy :)

**INTRO** G / D / Em / D / C x2
**VERSE**
G
You dreamed he'd shine like the sun
Now you son is set
D
Hey dad, grab another cigarette
Em D
Ashes fall like an unpaid debt
C
Come on everybody place your bets
G
In seventh grade he dug his grave
D
Trying to be cool with the cool kids hey
Em D
Follow everything they say
C
You might fit in if you misbehave
G
At sixteen he promised he'd be clean
D
You didn't bend, but you sure did lean
Em D C
You do not deserve this
**CHORUS**
G
Hey Mr. Wilmington
D
Yeah, I heard about your son
Em D
It's hard enough to hide your scars
C
In smalltown USA
G
Sweet Mr. Wilmington
D
Yeah I read about your son
Em D
Don't blame yourself, you raised him right
C
Remember that when you can't sleep at night
**VERSE 2** (same as verse 1)
At twenty-one you found his gun
Hey dad, it's just begun
The ties that bind, they come undone
Come on everybody, just for fun
At twenty-four you found him on the floor
Decadence was all he wore
You do not deserve this
**CHORUS**
D Em C x4
Na na na na na
**VERSE 3**
At the funeral, read his eulogy
Insincere apologies
You do not deserve this
All the papers and press decide
Hey, just another suicide
You do not deserve this
**CHORUS**

| About a father whose son gets into drugs and eventually kills himself. By far my favorite Lucky Boys Confusion song. | |

| I think the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory...he was so proud of his son, then he started drugs trying to be "cool." Probably my favorite LBC song, even though it's really depressing. | |

| this is a really sad song... i love this song though. it's obviously about a son who got in with the wrong crowd, started using drugs, then shot himself. seriously depressing song. | |

| this song reminds me of a kid that lives in the same (small, suburban) town as i do. he is trying to move out, but keeps getting probation, so it keeps him here. but, he has nice parents and a nice house...his live wasnt too bad off. but he totally got into drugs and is so gone from any kind of real life any more. everyone stops referring to his death as an "if" and it has become a "when." i knew him growing up, and seeing him turn into a totally different person...his last name is even close to wilmington. if or when or whatever he dies, i dont want his funeral to be like the last verse, i wish there would be a celebration of his life...... but there isnt much left to celebrate. he is like the walking dead. i cant imagine what his parents feel like. it is a sad, sad song to hear. it reminds me too much of old friends who have turned their life upside down and everyone just seems to be waiting for the inevitable. | |
