| This song is without a doubt one of the best songs ever composed.( sp) and contains one of the most energetic guitar solos ever! It is easily a great song for any occasion. Driving, chillin, gettin high, gettin drunk, anything. | |

| I Never thoguht about it being the earth, I just figured the parts "would you still remember me?" and "please don't take it so badly, 'cause Lord knows I'm to blame" sounded like he was talking to all his fans. But the song being about Duane Allman was just the way Lynyrd Skynyrd interpreted it, and even though that's the intended message for the song, the lyrics are pretty vague so that people can apply it to anything they want. | |

| ok tomyamamoto, your a fucking loser. and the song is about Duane Allman, it is a very meaningfun song, very long, and mainly a solo. Its a tribute to a member of the allman brothers, which is probally why the solo is so long. Alot of allman brothers songs are long becuase of solos. | |

| "I love this song up until the guitar solo part" OMFG! FOOL!!!! Where do you live, maybe I can slap some sense int you?!? This is probably the greatest guitar solo of ALLLLL time!!!! It is about Duane Allma, from the Allman Brothers Band. Died in a Motorcycle wreck. The solo is played with 2 guitars, the way almost all Allman Brothers songs are played, as a tribute to Duane. Absolutely beatiful song. Guitar playing that is in a league with "Stairway To heaven" and other great songs. | |

| It was definitely written before the plane crash. I have two ways of interpreting it. 1. He's leaving his girl, because he's too independent. 2. Sort of like he's passed on. He's going to a better place and she doesn't need to worry about him. | |

| lyrics seem self explanatory - a guy explaing to his girl why he's leaving her. | |
