The track is based in G , and the 5 minute solo used mainly
the G minor pentatonic scale. I suggest practicing the sliding intro
with your finger first and then get out the bottleneck. Also it's
a good idea to rig your electronic tuner (you do have one?) up so
that when you play the guitar a bend a note you can see how close
you get
, you should get a power supply for your tuner so you can turn it on
permanantly when your amp is switched on . This really does improve
you pitch. It is vital that you get the right pitch of the notes with
the slide or it sounds useless. Also add a bit vibrato with the slide
for extra effect. You only need a little bit distortion and not
to much
for the solo either. Okay here it is.

come to the outro section . You can take your slide of now and
change to some rhythm playing and then it's the solo.
oh yes this is where there is some slight phasing , but also it's
switched off for the main body of the solo and gradually builds up
into the end section.

| Again, saw this song live. It was AMAZING. They went off stage, as to say "we're not playing FreeBird" and the entire crowd started screaming and pounding on the seats. Finally, Billy came out and played a 10 minute piano solo that lead into FreeBird. It was amazing, then Johnny, Gary. and the rest of the band came out and played a 20 minute version of the song. I just can't say enough about it. Fly on proud bird, you're free at last | |

One of the best guitar solos ive heard so far! tomyamamoto, your a dumbass, and obviously dont know good music when u hear it. the first time i heard this song though, was a long time ago when i was watching forrest gump lol, even the small portion of it played on there, i got hooked in the song. its kinda just stayed w/ me. | |
