| I think, it's pretty much just that she wants the guy, but he doesn't know that she does. Inside, she thinks maybe it'll be better if she'd let him go, but she just can't because there is something there. When she says "I may seem alright. And smile when you leave. But my smiles are just a front", it seems as though she's too afraid to tell him how she really feels and now she's just stuck wanting him, but isn't able to tell him, because maybe it's too late. | |

| I agree with tomboy...I can see how this song works for people who have recently lost one or more of their friends, for whatever reason[s]. that also happens to be how I relate to it these days! "goodbye and I choke I try to walk away and I stumble," my favorite lines. in a few words, she illustrates an entire scene so well. I hate when i'm trying to speak and my emotions take over and i just choke on all of the words. it's hard "moving on" but whatever...what else can you do when the only person[or people] you really trusted abandons you? | |

| Love the song and the multiple ways of looking at it but I see it as... “I believe that fate has brought us here And we should be together, babe But we're not” “I try to say goodbye and I choke I try to walk away and I stumble Though I try to hide it, it's clear: My world crumbles when you are not near” Basically she is in love with someone whom she most defiantly has a past with; that may or may not have halted negatively. It seems that she had her dead bolt locked in fear of getting hurt or what ever the case must be again but she uses these lyrics and this song to tell the person, that she wouldn’t like anything more then to try it again. So she is basically ready to stop using her dead lock because it is safe and she is ready to open up to this person again. | |
