| Life's like that. There ain't nothin' better than the innocence of youth, the friends you had back then and the shit you done together. How I wish I could be 15 once again, relive the best time I ever had. I ain't even able to ask 'em if they remember 'cause I'm so fuckin' far away, I ain't got no telephone numbers and shit to maybe give 'em a call. It's all gone wrong. Well.. at least I got this song. | |

| this song is one of my favorites by mad season. i think ive figured it all out by the liner notes in the above album. it's basically about wanting to get in touch with those that you loved, but haven't kept in touch with over the years and wanting the good times to last. once they're gone or "washed away with the rain" you feel such isolation and loneliness. the one line that really got me bawling, especially when Layne died was "silver spoons affix the crown. the luckless ones are broken" meaning that many of his friends had drifted into heroin, including himself. and died. this was written only a short time before Demri, Layne's fiance died. they had a falling out a year or so before. | |

| Why haven't more Alice in Chain's fan's been to this site? You'd figure they new about Mad Season. Granted they weren't as hard as Alice but the music that Layne helped put together is just flat out amazing. | |

| this is one of the most beautiful songs ever. to me, it's about regret. things you wish you said, things you wish you did. despite all the crap that's happened since, he remembers one summer fondly, even if no one else does. he want's to hold on to that summer forever. i've had a summer like that. i always feel like i'm the only one who remembers what a good time we had. all the friends that shared it with me have forgotten. kinda makes me teary-eyed. | |

| to me this song is about how the grunge era was dying, and by the time this song was writting people from the grunge scene like Cobain and Andy Wood had died, and alice in chains seemed like they were finished as well. I think Layne is saying that it came and went by really fast and he uses a summer as a metafore to this saying he's the only one who still remembers all the good times about it. I think the song is trying to justify truthfully the reasons that this genre of music was fading by stating the obvious drug abuse that everyone (not just layne was going through), also in Layne's thanks in the booklet instead of thanking his friends he thanks the people who shared that Long Gone Day (aka Grunge). | |

| My heart almost stopped when i heard "i fear again like then i lost my way" i think he is reffering to his addiction. and how he was clean for a very litte time when he wrote this so he's scared that he'll start up again. and he did..and died from it. thats sad. | |

| I fear again right then I've lost my way...not I fear again like then I've lost my way... anyways...I would like to think this song is about the eventual dissolution of Alice in Chains.... Layne still misses his friends but for some reason they're not wanting to hang out with him any longer... obviosulythere is more to it than just that, but I haven't quite been able to put two and two together... All I know, is that this song is amazing... Lanegan and and Layne with their voices dancing around eachother gives me shiver everytime I hear this song... | |
