| There's this song, Giving It Away, and The Sun and the Moon, which all seem to be about either God or a girl, and it's hard to tell which. But, maybe, it's supposed to have double meaning, killing two birds with one stone. If this song is about God, and I'm right about the night analogy (read my post for Cover Me), then this song could be about the end of life, and our relationship with God during that transition period. Another thing to notice, he says, "The waves are crashing on and on," could this figurative language tie in to the meaning of The Ocean on The Everglow? | |

| At first this song didn't really appeal to me, but now I really like it. "So this is my goodbye. Surprised, because I thought I could walk you home tonight, but you're leaving me here on the defense." I see those as talking about a guy who thinks that a girl loves him, but then being rejected, and he's still kind of in shock about it. This song just speaks to me. Mae is amazing! | |

| They are a Christian band, though. And even if they aren't concidered a "Christian" band, songs can still be about God. And I think a lot of them are about God or a girl. It just depends on how you perceive it. "I've written you this letter, Got it back return to sender. But I just can't remember you being quite like that. Misunderstand, we're holding hands, We're at the beach, we're throwing sand. As the lights just go up all around us, I can't believe it's over." That's my favorite line. Beautiful. | |

| This is most defiently my favorite mae song of all time. I saw them in concert last monday and while listening to this song already gets me emotional, hearing it live makes it so much more personally! I relate to this song so much and the S.M. remix is just as great! P.S. The new album is totally wonderful! : ) | |

| I think this song is about a couple, where the girl is moving away and wants to end their relationship because of that, while the boy in the relationship doesn't want it to end. The lyrics are written in perspective of both people. The girl says "goodbye, I'm not going to waste this time..." because she thinks its over. While the boy says "Goodnight, I'm not getting off this ride..." as in, he still wants to keep the relationship despite the distance. The boy continues to write letters and tries to keep in touch when the girl moves away. She doesn't write back, and he reminisces on the past times spent with her. (We're at the beach, throwing sand, etc.) and he doesn't understand why it ended when everything was going so well. At the end of the song, the couple is reunited and decide to continue their relationship despite the difficulties it poses. (the waves are crashing on and on) Well thats what I see from the song anyway. Let me know if I am completely off-base. | |

| it's one of my favorite mae songs ever. it's definitely about a relationship, but to me, it's the girl suddenly breaking up with the guy and he's just so numbed about it. and then there's they meet again and there's a spark between them but it fades before they can get a closer look and the guy thinks it's something big but the girl shrugs it off. and then the girl realizes what she just let go of and goes back to him. | |

| i used to not pay too much attention to this song, but i listened to it a few times in a row and found i really relate to it. i think it's simply about living. *this light that burns will keep on fading- about how our life burns, but it eventually burns out. i also love *This force is driving me to test the speed of light. i also think that it could be about just the ending of as stage in someone's life. | |

| yeah it's definitely one of those songs you dismiss cause it's at the end but when you listen to it, it becomes your favorite song on the album. like copeland's when finally set free. yeah definitely about a relationship, where she wanted it to end but he didn't, but i bet she's off in her room missing him and writing a song like this too, because they don't want to admit to each other that they miss them. | |
