F# A
Rain,
F# A F# A
Like tin angels falling down
F# A F# A
Like a mission and we're halfway there
F# A F# A
From some old dried up fried forgotten town

F# A
Why
F# A F# A
Won't they let us be ourselves
F# A F# A
With our potential we could toe the line
F# A F#
And show the bastards up with our divine
C F#* C F#* C F#* C (riff 1)
Light! Light! Light! Light!

F# A
Seize
F# A F# A
All the records from the past
F# A F# A
Hold for ransom all the artifacts
F# A F#
This ragged town protects them to the last
C F#* C F#* C F#* C (riff 1)
With lies! lies! lies! lies!

F# E A G F# E A G F# E A G F# (riff 2) (riff 2)
See them running heading homeward to Seattle

All the liars in your tribe

To be the fires on the western side
F# A F# A
Of some old front we call the war of art

Like tin angels falling down

Like a mission and we're halfway there

It's not directly about Kurt Cobain, it's about Seattle and the surrounding areas in the early 90s. The beginnings of "grunge" were more than just Nirvana, and Wozniak was a part of that scene. He actually shared rehersal space with Cobain for a while though.

Also! The end of the song is not the real end. The song was cut off during recording and they liked it, so they left it that way. I've been a hard-core, very involved fan of Marcy for years, and in all that time I have never heard the full ending, nor has anyone else I know.

hmmm i hate to be the guy who disagrees but i really cant see how this is about kurt. i mean the line about a "tribe", and kurt singing that lyric once on a live tv show - thats not really very convincing. but maybe im wrong. either way its a great song - the chorus is so simple and clever and awesome. actually come to think of it reminds me of kurts music writing cos of the simple lower-string bar chords and repeated one-word choruses.
