| It is sort of amazing how lots of people can relate to such an abstract song. :) Me, I write a story, which turns out to be quite tragic, and this song is my primary source of inspiration for it. Overall, I count this song to be the best on Holy Wood, if not the best Manson's song ever. | |

| I think this is about a guy who never felt like he belonged an the one person he actually cared about died an he feels love is dead too so now he wants to kill himself to 'make everyone else pay' because his 'angel' is dead | |

| well first of all i just have to say that anyone who compares Slipknot to Marilyn Manson and especially Tool, should be shot. Marilyn Manson are thousands of times better than Slipknot, and there aren't words for how much better Tool is. But anyways, i agree that the angel is everything good that Marilyn had to offer but nobody would except it (or him) so it went away. i love, "i'll kill myself to make everybody pay," because who hasn't felt like that. and i think "i would have told her then she was the only thing that i could love...the simple word of love itself already died and went away," is Marilyn saying that he loved her, but he couldn't put it into words because every time he did, he got shot down. And now when someone might have returned the love, he didn't have the strength to tell her, which eventually pushed her away. i love this song. it's so sad, but beautiful. | |

| This song describes alot of the way I feel now-a-days. me and my fiance just broke up and he was the only person I've ever really loved and everything to me and alot of the time I just wanna end it all and make everyone in the world pay for my loss but i won't it's giving up and I'm not gonna do that. but yeah I love this song. | |

| I think that this is a song that continues from "Coma White". I think "Coma White" was about a girl...named Coma White. She tried to take drugs to make her happy, but that couldn't "save her from herself", so she killed herself. In "Coma White", Coma says "...a world that threw me away today, to run away." and in this song (Coma Black, duh.) it mentions running away, too, but not singular..."we were too dumb to run, too dead to die." I think this means Coma Black was Coma White's lover. Coma Black probably denied Coma White's suicidalness at first ("My mouth was a crib and it was growing lies") and had problems expressing his love to her ("I would have told her then she was the only thing that I could love in this dying world, but the simple word of "love" itself already died and went away"). Now Coma Black feels out of place because he misses her so much ("This was never my world you took the angel away, I'd kill myself to make everybody pay") In this case, Coma White is the angel who couldn't take living in a perfect world anymore (Coma White:"You were from a perfect world, a world that threw me away...") And as for "Apple of Discord", "Her heart's bloodstained egg. We didn't handle with care. It's broken and bleeding and we can never repair": this stands for Coma White's dead hope and heart, and no one really tried to help her, they should have "handled with care". But now they can't repair it. So, yeah, I guess the Eden Eye is the "perfect world" and now that he's "burned all the good things" in it and lost his love who he never got to tell how much he cared, he feels like killing himself to get back at it (the perfect world). And those are my thoughts/two cents. What do you all think? | |
