wives are used to balance the dominant position In response to a scale that is always tipped, one must renew their influence. They must never stop exploding. Thereby continually evolving to exsist harmoniously. One influence is not the end of the way the scale is tipped. One who plays their cards to the greatest extent applicable gives more influence than those who play without cause.

There are many-a people on a constant itch to blame Marilyn Manson for stupid bullshit. But like he says himself, if anyone is STUPID enough to kill themselves over music, then that's one less idiot in the world.

I think what was said in JTHM applies to the situation with this song "Any pile of stunted growth unaware that entertainment is just that and nothine more, deserves to doom themselves to some dank cell, somewhere, for having been so stupid!! movies, books, t.v., music - they're all just entertainment, not guidebooks for damning yourself."

I like what kellio said. I did NOT take the suicide king reference to mean cards though. I think Marilyn Manson looks upon himself as sort of a godly figure, and what he's saying is that he will control you. I think the card explination is good though

I really agree with Kellio! You can't blame Manson for the boy's suicide. We choose our own music, don't we? And besides, this song is really good, and so are all his other records!!!

""""There are many-a people on a constant itch to blame Marilyn Manson for stupid bullshit. Ya man that's gonna be my defence for any controversial shit I may listen or see in the future.

About i_feel_sick's post... he was stating what Manson has said before about kids committing suicide over music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kujWUKWijjk ^^that's from some talk show, where manson said it And about the father whose son supposedly killed himself over Manson's music... I was watching CSPAN (or one of those stations) about a week ago, and they were playing video from some 90's conference about violence in music and on TV and the kid's father was talking about everything. From what I could tell, I don't even think his son was that much of a Manson fan, anyway. The father read from a paper that his son apparently wrote for school, and he (the son) basically bashed Manson in it. Either that or he was really confused about what Manson's message is... Did anyone else see what I'm talking about? I didn't get to watch the whole thing.

Just as a random thought for the suicide king line. Could it maybe be a reference to the movie "Suicide Kings" with Christopher Walkens. I think its about a bunch of kids who kidnap this guy and hold him for ransom. By being the suicide king, manson is saying that he is being put in control of all his listener's lifes just like how the kids in the movie were put in control of their hostage's life. This idea probably isn't relevant though cause mechanical animals only came out a year after this movie was released. I just thought the connection between the song and the movie was interesting.

I kind of thought this song was about a woman or "mechanical bride" who was "emotionless" or "mechanical" toward him and treated him like dirt as in he was "a hand grenade that never stopped exploding" It made him so depressed that he was suicidal "playing the suicide king". Wow I thought it was as simple as that. As for the drug references: phenobarbitol as phenobarbiedoll which means the depression was eating at him so bad that he took phenobarbitol (a sedative) to help with the torment she was putting him through.

Excellent lyrics, especially the line 'This isn't me I'm not mechanical...' almost as if he's speaking for the kids who are accused of following Manson like sheep. For the record, I hate to say it but some Manson fans are dumb. But the intelligent ones more than make up for the idiots. This is a great song, the whole of Mechanical Animals is fantastic. 'I am never gonna be the one for you. I am never gonna save the world from you.' He's saying that despite the number of people who worship him (ironic?), he's not going to save them. The world is their enemy, not him and he can't do anything to stop kids commiting suicide, regardless of what parents might think. people are too quick to place the blame on the nearest controversial person in the media, in this instance, Manson.

My opinion is completely different from all those offered thus far, but I think that this is about fame and the loss of humanity that it brings. You lose your soul when you become famous, and indeed, it's manson's anger, poured into his music like an exploding grenade, that made him famous. And anyone he's dating will be a perfect drugged barbie doll, mechanical as well. If you've ever seen suicide kings, it's about a kid who kidnaps a mafia don. Basically, it makes me think about being in too deep before you realize it, being just a boy messing around with things that can kill you, and when you're famous, you mess around with things that can kill you every day, and most of them you can snort or shoot up.
