| I think SmilingEmoKid hit it on the nail. In fact, this is almost exactly what manson himself said in an interview about a year ago. The song is about how society views us (I'm assuming that nobody here is a politically correct, well-mannered member of society) when we're just having fun being ourselves. | |

The image of a woman is almost always that of a sex object and nothing more. I mean, how many men say that the perfect woman is one who doesn't talk? (there are several sexist jokes along this line but I can't remember them) It's really very sad. Also, the fact that "seen" and "obscene" rhyme furthers the delicious wordplay... "Your freedom's not free and dumb" Seems to be criticizing America... | |

| like many here i would not say for certain wat this song means as that is solely up to manson himself to explain it, but after reading some of his interviews i come to a near conclusion of wat this song is about: this is about the end of the world from manson's prediction based on logic of human nature and wat we use to reproduce and survive throughout mankind history will be the very thing that destroys us: sex. and using some elements from the Bible to make it sound interesting e.g. "sex-tank armor plate" as the revelation tells us there are goign to be war and clashes between nations. and also "the day that love opened our eyes and we watched the world end," finally when we realized wat we truly love and want as humans its we realize that indeed this world is doomed to destroy itself, but not as the bible's famous "grand happening" type of armageddon, but rather and obvious end that anyone can come to realize just takes time to think about it. in addition to this song about the end of the world i also find this song IS about sexual freedom as well, b/c in the video it showed a girl's head in a cage that very short scene, i agree with that manson's song is "deep" but its not about glamourizing "sex" and obscene stuff its rather simply stating a problem of society right now that can be considered as one of its many "sad truths", that as history shows, when soceity restricted sex (or any other nature-intented things) ie, it often leads to violence and rape, etc. so this song summarizes it as "its better to be Obscene than having MObscenes spreading in ur country." as a person i forget name once said if u try to stop a river with a dam chances are its going to eventually build up and break the dam if the water is not allowed to flow out. same thing applies to humans, if u try stop them been horny and who they are like dont allowe them to watch porns, eventually they wont listen to you and "break" through and everything would be chaos and they'll have sex anyways b/c u simply cant control nature, but back to the topic on the end of the world, this very thing will lead to the end either way, either we restrict sex and we rebel and destroy eachother, or we have sex so much that we die from all kinds of problems from overpopulation. | |
