the "some children died the other day..." line is referring to the way the media handled the columbine incident. america fed the corporate machine then they prayed for the victims, he saying that its all wrong. they shouldnt have faith in the american government. "you should have seen the ratings that day" - showing that america has the wrong approach to tragedies like this. they just plaster it all over TV in order to get the ratings, they dont actually care about the victims, they just want the gory details.

Who cares what it is/was about? Columbine, murdered nun. The song has a meaning, yes... but maybe it's none of those.

Although influenced by events such as columbine and the murdered nun in italy, I think that the songs main message is that some people feel so worthless and powerless that they will do anything for recognision. The point of the song which bears most weight is the fact that these people think that death will bring them notoriety "When were dead, you`ll know just who we are" and then Manson goes on to dismissively refer to them as 'some children' I sure as hell can't remember there names!!

The chorus to me means that when your alive no one cares about you at all,but once you are dead people start to care & remeber that you were alive.Humans love death & gore even when they say they hate it.Its human nature so when somethings dead they find it more interesting

I'm pretty sure that this one is about school massacres, where some teenager wannabes go so far in their hate on everything that they decide to do a massacre and then kill themselves. When they're dead, the whole world knows their names. They kill other teenagers (or children - there have been cases where children shot other children in school) after they fed their machine guns - and then the media make their morbid wishes come true by making as many stories (and money) out of those events as possible - and in the most cases they present the actors like the people want to see them, as sick weirdos with morbid brains, evil monsters in the shape of teenagers. A very sad but true song about extreme violence and it's accomplice, the media.
