I agree with Mindglue. I actually experianced that need for self harm, while listening to this song. "I want to outrace the speed of pain for another day. " To me thats like saying, 'i've had enough of the touture of the pain i've put myself thru. i need to break free of it all.' "When you want it, it goes away too fast. Times you hate it, it always seems to last. Just remember, when you think you're free, the crack inside your fuckin heart is me. " That to me says that you think you got rid of the pain and suffering of self harm. if you dont want it, the thougbht of doing it is right there. when you do want it, you feel you cant hurt yourself. but then, something great comes along and you're "free". but then one slip-up and you feel that want to harm yourself again. "the crack inside your fucking heart is me" is the feeling of wanting to SI inside of you, even at the best of times, you hate everything and hate yourself and just need to break free. sadly, it never stops. This song i basically adopted into my "songs that make me want to die" genre. I listened to it for the first time and i felt angry, and abusive. thats why i say what I did above about S/H. (or SI) Either way, this song is still great. And i've gotten over that whole thing. Now i can enjoy this song in peace, not in pieces.

There's a knife for everyday that I've known you. It doesn't get much better than that. Manson is a beautiful lyricist.
