1st Verse-no Guitar/Bass continues-
I wanna fly into your sun
I need fear to make me numb
Live like a teenage Christ
I'm a saint, got a date with suicide
Oh, Mary... Mary
To be this young is oh-so-scary
Mary... Mary
To be this young, I'm oh-so-scared
I wanna live
I wanna love
But it's a long hard road out of hell
I wanna live
I wanna love
But it's a long hard road out of hell

Spread my way out of hell
there's nothing left of a soul to sell
I live fast, I die fast too
How many times I'd do this for you...
How many times I'd do this for you...
Mary... Mary
To be this young I'm oh-so-scared
I wanna live
I wanna love

I wanna live
I wanna love
But it's a long hard road out of hell
[Chorus]... ("do-do do..." part w/Intro guitar riff)
I wanna live
SP: (live...)
I wanna love
SP: (love...)
But it's a long hard road out of hell
[Repeat]
..LONG HARD ROAD OUT OF HELL!!!
I wanna sell my soul for anything, anything but you...
Sell my soul for anything, anything but you.

| He made it for the Spawn CD, and it seems to be about the character. "I live fast and I die fast too How many times do I have to do this for you?" "I wanna live, I wanna love" "Sell my soul" "soul" | |

| i think this song is about doing something then regretting what the consequences might be ' its a long hard road out of hell'. i think it's about getting into something (like selling your soul) then thinking that you might not be able to get out of it. you want to be one thing but your conscience is telling you not to. | |

| oh, and this says my point too... "Need faith to make me numb Live like a teenage christ Im a saint, got a date with suicide" Jesus could have saved himself by just speaking up, but he did not even try to stop the people from killing him, therefor it was seicide | |

| Being a teenager is probably the lonliest time in a person's life. It's just after you've lost your innocence and ignorance and just before you grow up, sell out, give up your ideals and give in to society. Everything is in question. You can either have the ignorance of childhood or the ignorance of adulthood, but you can't keep that reality inbetween without selling your soul on the way. You want to love and live for something greater, but it's a long hard road out of hell. Very few make it out. | |

| to me all these interpretations are right. the one that i took from this song is about depression. before i heard this song i had been knocked into the deepest depths of depression and clawed my way out. after hearing the song the chorus it reminded me exactly how i felt trying to beat depression. and being in the depression felt like it was forever and i was never gonna get out. most of the song seems to focus around those depression themes. at least for me they do. | |

| I'm on this road out of hell. Hell was 4 months ago when I was trying to kill myself multiple times. Depression^2. Then my friends saved me. But it won't be awhile before I finally escape this shit. | |

| To go off topic for a second, the line "Live like a teenage Christ" inspired many thoughts in my head. What was Jesus, if he existed, like when he was a teenager? You can't tell me he didn't use his powers for fun. If I had the power to turn water into wine, I'd be wasted all the time. | |

| Wow. What a great concluding sentence. It almost looks speech-written. Though it's quite obvious, Mary would be the virgin Mary, and then "faith to make me numb" is probably the idea that people use religion as a substitute for drugs, a means of escapism. | |

| did anyone think this song was Jesus? it would really fit the whole song... like the dying young... the mary jesus didn't want to die, he just said, "father let your will be done, not mine" and after Jesus died he went to hell for three days, then he had to come back out of hell and go back to earth for 50 or so more days.... "you never said forever could hurt like this" him talking to God about getting crucified and so on.. | |
