That's all that there is to it. Practice until u can play it with your eyes closed and
you can sing the melody with it.

Am7
Where you are seems to be
D
As far as an eternity
G
Outstretched arms open hearts
Em7
And if it never ends then when do we start
Am7 D
I'll never leave you behind
G
Or treat you unkind
Em7
I know you understand

If you see the pattern here the rest of the song is simple. The chord order is basically
through out the whole song.
Try to make the high note stand out when playing the riffs.

I adore this song, and I must say it took me so long before I realized it was all about goodbye sex (like hannah said). I mean, seiously- "Pushing forward and arching back"? What else is he supposed to be doing, waving goodbye? I am a bit slow. It's stil lan amazing song with a great beat.

I go along with the people who don't think it's about sex. "pushing forward and arching back" I don't know if it's happened to any of ya, but taking with my last relationship, when we broke up, part of you says it's time to move on,forward, while in your heart and mind you wanna go back, it's like being torn on moving on or trying to go back. the heart attack thing is your emotion, like when you think of a special moment in a relationship, and your overcome by emotion that makes your heart hurt, so to say. the "just say goodbye and fly away "line is him saying just go and say goodbye, please don't look back at me right now. the "when you come back I will have some things to say" is him letting her know that when you come back I will still say I love you and he will have more to say to make her stay this time. I don't know, maybe just me......

I think this song has to do with two lovers who live far away from each other. "Where you are seems to be as far as an eternity" - Sounds like long-distance and missing someone "I’ll never leave you behind or treat you unkind, I know you understand" - Sounds like good friends "And with a tear in my eye give me the sweetest goodbye that I ever did receive." - Two people parting ways, maybe to go home. "Pushing forward and arching back Bring me closer to heart attack" - I think this is about the physical motions of sex, and the heart attack could be approaching orgasm. "Say goodbye and just fly away" - Leaving on a jet plane? "When you get home there must be Someplace here that only you and I could go So I can show you how I feel" - Showing how they feel in a secluded place sounds like sex.

crap, i should read these things more, someone else kinda had the general idea too.....uumm,yeah, crap, lol One more thing about Maroon 5, yeah they do seem to have a lot os sexual undertones in their songs, but in a way it's kinda cool howthey do it, not too blatent and coarse, but soft abd subtle, kinda nice....

hes telling her how much he loves and didnt treat her bad but is sad shes leaving but "when u get back" he knows she'll come back and he'll tell her how much he still loves her and "How does it feel to know you never have to be alone When you get home" how even though shes with somebody, "There must be someplace here that only you and I could go So I can show you how I feel" he still wants her to know he has always loved her.

Interesting. Four girls. Don't get me wrong, very good song. Loving Maroon 5. But still, a bit odd no? "Don't cry for me. I'm already dead."

This song is about an affair... "Where you are seems to be /As far as an eternity /Outstretched arms open hearts /And if it never ends then when do we start?" This part describes how lonely it feels to know you love someone who belongs to someone else.. the doubts of wondering if you will ever get to really be together.. "I’ll never leave you behind /Or treat you unkind /I know you understand /And with a tear in my eye /Give me the sweetest goodbye /That I ever did receive" .. This expresses an undying love.. but at the same time, knowing that they can not continue like this.. I think that basically, it's gotten to be too much for him.. He's saying he loves her, and would never hurt her.. but he can't keep waiting around for her.. "Pushing forward and arching back /Bring me closer to heart attack /Say goodbye and just fly away /When you come back / I have some things to say" This part is key to understanding what it's like.. it's got a double meaning.. it describes lovemaking, but also the inability to stay away.... the heart attack is the intense emotions.. also the allusion to flying and her return.. the saying "When you love someone, let them go, if they come back to you, they are yours.." .. he might let her go, but she will be back.. their love is too real. "How does it feel to know you never have to be alone /When you get home /There must be someplace here that only you and I could go /So I can show you how I… " This describes an affair so well.. He is thinking of her with the other person.. it is a very lonely feeling.. and also.. the desperation of wanting to know that what the two of you have is special.. it is different and better than what she has with her other person... there must be some place that is only ours that i don't have to share with anybody else.. "Dream away everyday /Try so hard to disregard /The rhythm of the rain that drops /And coincides with the beating of my heart" Dreaming of a future maybe.. trying to ignore the sadness (raindrops).. but feeling it with each heartbeat. I think that he is basically telling her he loves her and always will.. but she must go and decide what she wants... and he knows that the love they have is real enough that someday, she will be back...
