"You make me think of someone wonderful But I can’t place her I wake up every morning Wishing one more time to face her Something’s gotta change It must be rearranged, oh" i took that to mean that he's in love with this girl but she's drifting away or becoming distant or whatever, and he wants it to be the way things used to be.

I'll be the first to mention that this song's intro starts off exactly like "Kryptonite".

O.K, at least I'm not the only one. I heard the opening to this song and thought, "Wait...did I download the wrong song?" Very clever, Jayemel. This song contains some of the best lyrics I have ever heard..."I’m sorry, I did not mean To hurt my little girl It's beyond me, I cannot carry The weight of a heavy world" The visceral emotion makes this a close second on the album, only behind Better That We Break.

i am so in love with this song, it's simply beautiful. i think it's already become one of my favourite songs of all time. i came here hoping to find some insight as to what this song was exactly about, but it seems everyone is just as confused as me! i swear, every time i hear this song i think it's about something different. for a little while i believed what totheendmcr04, but recently i've been thinking maybe it's about suicide (the chorus and the whole so much to learn part make me think that)

All I really know is that I listen to this song over and over and over and over (stop me when you get bored) and over... okay. I'll stop. But after I listen to it for a while, it makes me cry :( I love it SO much!

I think that this song means that he is really stressed, (cannot carry the weight of the heavy world) and that he has been bad to his lover because of it. I was leaning towards a lover, but then I heard "my little girl." I still don't know about that, but I think that he might commit suicide, and he won't be there to teach her, and guide her. So he's going to leave her. (in some way: suicide, divorce, leaving, etc.) And he hopes that things work out alright.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similarity to Kryptonite, Skyline_Evo8. Every time this song plays, I confusedly think, "What are 3 Doors Down doing on here?" This is a gorgeous song, though.

Clearly singing to his daughter and angry and upset that he's got to leave her (divorce? work?).

I'm pretty sure this song is about a guy dating or sleeping with a girl because she reminds him of an ex... For example: "You make me think of someone wonderful But I can’t place her I wake up every morning Wishing one more time to face her Something’s gotta change It must be rearranged, oh" But she younger, and he wants to try to teach her to be like her, but she can't be so he's leaving, and it was never his intention to hurt her.

this song not only makes you want to weap at least one single tear, it makes you lay on your knees and confess the loved one all the bad things in your life... it's so beautiful... and sad... about leaving... about disappointing the loved one.. about parting...

I think this is one of the sweetest songs on the album. It's kinda like "She Will be Loved" only less optimistic. I did think of Kryptonite the first time I heard it, though it's a bit different. I think this is about hurting someone but thinking that if you sleep it off it might be better in the morning.

if they get rid of the intro, this would be a good single. My favorite off their new album.

i think dyer's close.. but i think this song is more about him really liking the girl he's with, but he just can't get over a girl from his past.. and she can tell he's not completely there and she has to leave him because he's not over another girl yet and he can't help it ("it's beyond me") i donno thats just what i thoughht.

I don't know if this is too literal.... But maybe he did hurt his little girl. Maybe its a father who abused and then was separated from his daughter. Thats all I think of now when I hear it, makes it a lot harder to enjot.

This song is beautiful. I listen to it over, and over. I was kind of confused at first though - it seemed like it was towards like...A daughter, but at the same time, a lover. All I know is that I love this song.

I'm glad someone mentioned the Three Doors Down thing. I knew the intro reminded me of -something-, but I couldn't put my finger on what and it was driving me crazy! Anyway... here is my take on the song. Upon first listening to it I immediately thought it was about suicide, mostly because of the line "I cannot carry the weight of a heavy world." But like many of you I was confused as to whether he was addressing a lover or a child, and sometimes it even seemed like maybe there was a third party involved. After listening to it several times and really concentrating on the lyrics, these are the conclusions I've come to (assuming that the suicide theory is correct, which I believe it is.) The first stanza is addressing a lover (the child's mother). Pretty straight-forward. The second stanza is introspective. The guy is thinking about his lover leaving, and possibly blaming himself a little ("her eyes were red with anger, enraged by things unsaid and empty beds and bad behavior.") The chorus is addressing his daughter. He has made the decision to end his own life and is apologizing for leaving his "little girl." (I also think that "Goodnight Goodnight" sounds a bit lullaby-ish, which reinforces my belief that the chorus is being sung to a daughter.) The next stanza is from the point of view of someone who knew the guy, perhaps at his funeral or after his body is found. ("The room is silent as we all try so hard to remember the way it feels to be alive the day that he first met her" - I think 'her' could refer either to the lover or the daughter, not sure which.) The next stanza is the guy addressing the daughter again. "You make me think of someone wonderful but I can't place her, I wake up every morning wishing one more time to face her" I believe is saying that the little girl reminds him of her mother, and he can't get used to waking up without her there. The bridge is what really reinforces me belief both that this song is about suicide, and that he is addressing his daughter. "So much to learn, but I won't be there to teach you" definitely sounds like something one would say to a child, not a lover. And the fact that he "won't be there to teach her" but will "try his best to reach her" definitely sounds like he is dying. Maybe I've read a little too much into it, because reading over this my interpretation sounds a little complicated, haha. But, that's just my take on it. The change in person between stanzas really sounds like the song might be from multiple people's perspectives.

this is another great one...when i first got the cd...i loved nothing lasts forever more than anything...then i heard this (this song is soooo beautiful). Anywho, this song is so emotional...i would say that that it is one of the most emotional off the cd...makes me want to cry every time i hear it i agree with those of you who feel as if he is with a girl and he cares for her but he still loves the one from a previous relationship...i think the lines that show this most are: "You make me think of someone wonderful / But I can’t place her / I wake up every morning / Wishing one more time to face her" and "I know I can be closed / But I'll try my best to reach you; Goodnight, hope that things work out all right" it's like he wants it to work but he's bot denying the underlying problems. i love this song...it's my #2 on the cd.

I listen to this song every night before i go to sleep.. and maybe it's just like Dyer said..but to me it meant something completley different from all of you guys. I somehow felt that it's about a father leaving his wife and child, as he's talking to this song to "My little Girl"..so he's telling her sorry he has to leave..or maybe he died..but it sounds more like leaving..does anyone agree with me?!
