| Cant BELIEVE this hasn't got a better reception. It was the first single they released over here in England and blew everyone away: they put track 1 & this (track 2) together, so it sounded more like a conventional single than it does on the album. The lyrics, in my view, mean fuck-all. They're just a bunch of foreigners who've stuck a few phrases together and hoped for the best... sounds good though! | |

| seems to me that people who think the mars volta make no sense just aren't intelligent enough to understand that it's quite intelligent, whether you enjoy it or not. | |

| The ignorance of some amuses me. For those afore mentioned, julio injected himself with rat poison in an attempt to kill himself. What I get from this is Julio's slipping in and out of consciousness, drifting towards his infamous comatose state. The poison has begun to deteriorate his tissue. His skin is shriveled and scarred, his arm deformed; his body is destroyed. He is beginning to hallucinate while passing towards a coma. He is on the verge of death, the voices of doctors and nurses surrounding him. He sees what he has become. "Now I'm lost." | |

| "yeah, a bunch of dark PSAT words and relying on the legacy left by ATDI for people to listen, no wonder this album got panned." Andewonfire, you will indeed burn for that remark. Vaya123's post above about the pulsating beats before the song was fantastic. that completely makes sense. well done on picking that up! as for the meaning, i guess this appears to be the part of the story where the drugs start to take effect, and the problems all start, or continue? | |

| The Mars Volta doesn't make any sense if you don't think about it. The first time I heard them I thought they were just mindless lyrics from a drug-burnt mind. Then I actually 'listened" and I found a brilliant web of imagery and metaphor, easily outshining the worthless world of modern rock. These guys are utterly amazing. Musicispowerful, let me now add how damn jealous of you I am. Not only did you see TMV, but you saw the choir of seraphs (APC) in all their glory. You are a very lucky individual. | |

| Too bad you yourself are not spot on either, Black. Yeah, he injected a bunch of different chemicals mixed together (not just rat poison) that shriveled up his arm, but that's not what the story's about. It's about an attempted morphine overdose that results in a coma, the comatose dreams he has, and his eventual suicide decision after awakening. He wasn't put into the coma by the "rat poison". | |

| black wing is pretty much dead on, you people have to realize that the fiction written by cedric and what actually happened to Julio didn't exactly fit together perfectly, just for the most part. If I remember right, Julio did rat poisoning, Cedric, through possibly not wanting to disparage his friend too much, changed it to morphine for the book. Just a guess. | |
