When I hear this song, I think of a utopian relationship that turned completely sour. Everything just fell apart and one person was holding onto to it by a thread. And then they realize, they no longer have anything to hold onto but a memory. Ultimately, they walk away.

the girl hes singin bout wasnt being 1/2 og their relationship. she was pretty much usin him, and after they broke up, shes like we need to stilll be friends and i'll always be here to comfort you. but shes saying as these things and not following thru with them. and hes just telling her, i'm over you, you arent the last wonderful most beautiful girl left in the world.

this song is about some guy who gets his heartbroken. he lies to himself that he now despises the girl who broke his heart and that he'd never take her back. however, his true feelings are completely opposite.

i was seriously considering buying the cd partly cause of this. The lyrics may be a little heartbreaking but to me the feel is warm like a lazy summer Sunday

very good song, i think. the meaning is obvious. he's telling himself that it doesn't matter, it won't be the first heart that she breaks, he wouldn't take her back if she was the last beautiful girl on earth. then he gives up and says "you were the last beautiful girl.." great song. -cait!

Why are the beautiful girls the most confused ones? Because guys are always chasing them, so they don't have to know what love is. Sooner or later they'll learn that some guys are not disposable, though, but by then the right one's probably gone... ...I love this song. (this album, and Recovering the Satelites, best post-relationship albums ever)

This song was such a nice surprise in the Mad Season cd. The music, the lyrics, everything about it would made me cry back then. Just like theLavi, I just felt that it fitted so perfectly to my situation: being absolutely used by someone that says that he/she cares about you when it's just convenience...he/she is everyone else's...Still that person is SO beautiful in your eyes that even being aware of all that using she/he could make you give up again... "It seems to be you've always been everyone else's girl..." That can be so hurting, realizing that you weren't even something important in that person's life; but she/he changed yours around.

I sleep with my radio on at nite and occasionally, ill be awakened by a song. The night this song woke me up, i was half asleep but very clearly heard "The one that you wrecked wont take you back if you were the last beautiful girl." Of course, being a girl myself, I had to change the lyrics a little bit, but it fit my situation that i was going through (with a "not quite" bf, you know what that means...) at the time right down to the "Its over now and ive gone without cuz youre everyone elses girl.." To me this song about coming to terms with the fact that this person burned you, but knowing that its not the end.

my ex-b/f played this song for me after i broke up w/ him. It starts out saying their relationship as ended; like everything else eventually ends, and they can't take back all the things they didn't mean to say. The guy is saying he's a fool for sticking around and no other fool would've. But he's thinking even if they were still together, she wouldn't be able to give him what he wants 100 percent. The girl broke his heart, it wasn't the first time and it won't be the last time she does it to a guy. And none of the guys she hurts will take her back if she was the last beautiful girl. He doesn't want to hear how she's sorry for all her mistakes and how she hurt him. She still wants to be friends and have him call her if he needs some1 to lean on. But everything has ended and he's going w/o her b/c he knows she will never be his. And ugh, that's how it was w/ us and now i really love him and this song makes me cry. honestyormystery , he IS telling her she's the last beautiful girl in the world. Those are flat out the lyrics of the last lines....

I love this song and so does my boyfriend and he got me listening to MB20,he says he loves me so much and listening to these songs i'm starting to get a bit scared,i'd never hurt him but its scary how you can effect someone so much and how someone can think your truly beautiful and love everything about you and make you their life and its great but if something happens i couldn't bear thinking i broke his heart, well i'd never do that 'cos i love him so much too but its still scary to me....

Good song with some fairly meaningful lyrics, but all matchbox twenty's songs seem to be about broken or painful relationships... I think a band with so much talent could produce some more uplifting and positive love songs. My Two Cents anyways ^^.

It's probably just saying that she's done this to countless other guys before. I like the wit in amongst the self-pity of this song. He's finally ready to dismiss her from his life, hence 'everyone else's girl'.

Cranberries- I had the same thing happen to me!! No joke...when I broke up with my boyfriend he told me to listen to that song. It made me cry. I think cuz it was so true. Nonetheless, this song is very awesome and now I have the album so that I can listen to it. ~Toby*

man, its so nice to see that other people get this song. those last lines just make the whole song. when i listen to this song, i can just kind of imagine this guy sitting there, watching the girl he loved with some other guy or flirting with a whole bunch of guys, and he's just off to the side, and this is his little apostrophe (addressing someone who's not there) where he just yells and screams at her like "you're not all you think you are, i'll get over you and find someone even better." and he justs continues in the same way, angry as all hell at this girl who broke his heart. but then, at the very end, she looks at him, and for that one second he sees what he always knew was there, and realizes that he's still completely crazy about her. this song is just so...true...
