| i agree with sunshinemae-"Like, when you pretend to scold someone for keeping you awake, even though you both know that you're glad you're not sleeping."-agree i think this song is about someone who keeps you late at night because you are both talking yet neither of you want to end the conversation. 'You're drying up my bed How can I get any rest now' -usually a bed is a comfortable place, but when something is dry it isn't know to comfort anything, so the girl or boy that is drying up his or her bed is making it seem uncomfortable like they would rather talk to them than sleep. they haven't been able to sleep well because all they can think about is the other person. "Sunshine, I'd really like to tell you Oh my sunshine even though your skies are blue" -they have feelings for them, they are their sunshine, what makes them get up in the morning. even though their skies are blue, meaning they are happy or oblivious, the person singing the song isn't because they can't get to sleep without thinking of them, when they finally do, they wake up thinking of them, such as sunshine wakes you up. "Someday you will get the best of me Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey" -finally when they are older they will be together, when they are old and gray they will still have each other. | |

| i think there is something to be said about the part where he says "i will soon be put to rest now". what does he mean by that? whos gonna put him to rest? and what does it mean to be "dryin up my bed"? it is a great song tho, i keep humming it to myself. | |

| i know it doesn't mean that he's at peace or anything - but it's such a happy song that i substitute my own meaning as to not disturb my reality. or something. matt costa is amazing. | |

| This can't have a negative meaning to it! It just *can't*!! i think it's really just him going on about how he loves Sunshine, in a sort of gentle teasing way at times. Like, "You're drying up my bed How can I get any rest now" Like, when you pretend to scold someone for keeping you awake, even though you both know that you're glad you're not sleeping. And then "'Someday you will get the best of me Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey" Growing old together :) No hidden meaning. Just a sweet little song that deserves a lot more praise and attention than it got. | |

| there are different ways to interpret songs, poems and other writings. maybe the artist meant something and maybe they didnt, maybe they wanted to leave it up to the listener or reader; i am the listener and it has a meaning to me. i think that is what is important. its about my girl. her name is sunshine. my name is sky. even when times are tough, she is there for me. she keeps me going. and she helps me take it easy. when im crying on my pillow when things are tough for us, she dries up my tears. im becoming a better man for her and eventually, ill be there for her, too. i love sunshine. and that is what this song means to me. | |

| I like how it's upbeat and there isn't any hidden meaning..I searched for the lyrics expecting it to be a little less than simple, but that's what makes it beautifully pleasant. Great song! | |

| I'm might be going off the deep end but, does or could this song have something to do with drugs (certain types of drugs are often referred to as women like 'Mary jane') 'Someday you will get the best of me Oh someday probably when I'm old and grey I'm lying in my bed and I will soon be put to rest now' Possibly death by od'ing or AIDS.. idk. Anyhow, i love this song no matter what its about. | |

| some of the lyrics sound kind of depressing. i mean "how can i get any rest now" ? "i will soon be put to rest"? it sounds like he's talking about death | |
