Lyrics:
A5 A/C#
I met a new one and she looks just like you
Asus4/D E5
She gives me everything that you didn’t want to
F#maj7 A5 D E
And maybe, maybe I don’t need saving after all
A5 A/C# Asus4/D E5
She sticks in my ribs almost better than you did
F#maj7 A5 D E
And maybe I’m tired or maybe she glows

D A6 Esus4 E
I wonder if you’re still defending x2

A9 D9
Cause you’ve been so wrong
A9 E
So long now
You’ve been so wrong
For so long now

Met someone with your eyes and skin
I can convince her of everything
And baby, it’s so delicious you should
Come here and see for yourself
“I’m gone,” you said, “if this is all there is…
You’ll never shine alone”

And I wonder if you’re still defending
I wonder if you’re still defending

You’ve been so wrong I could fall alone if all
So long now if I could fall away
You’ve been so wrong I could fall alone if all
so long now If I could fall away

A6 E A
And you knew anthems to breathe
D D/F# E
And I’ve got you on my answering machine.

D/F# E A6
I’ve kissed others lips
D A
And they promised me healing
D A E
It’s easy if you try

Yeah, he's still in the "i want to make you jealous" phase of the breakup. but he's still keeping his ex on his answering machine, he can't quite delete her yet.

Yeah, he hasn't moved on. He's faking it. He still has her on his answering machine, for God's sake. He said he kissed other lips with the hopes that it would help him get over his ex, but that obviously wasn't the case. It's kinda' like John Waite's "Missing You" in that he's basically lying to himself when Waite says, "I ain't missing you at all."

i think the song is more about trying to convince himself and his ex that he has moved on, and then rubbin git in his ex's face. just a thought.

I think it's about moving on, or at least trying to. Love this song!!!
