Matt Nathanson – Laid
Ok, I’ve tabbed this song out in two ways. The first is the way Matt Nathanson plays
it on the studio version, and the second way is how I play it for I don’t have a string
quartet at my disposal. My way just simply adds some of the sounds that would come from
a bassist and a string quartet playing with me. There are only two parts to this song,
so it’s really simple. I’ve tabbed the strums as accurately as I could, but listen
to the song to get it 100% to your satisfaction. Enjoy!
Standard Tuning
Intro/Verse/Chorus:
C G
-----0---0---0---0-----0-----3---3-----|--3-----3-----------------
-----1---1---1---1-----1-----3---3-----|--3-----3-----------------
-----0---0---0---0-----0-----0---0-----|--0-----0----------------- (extra strums on G during Verse/Chorus)
-----2---2---2---2-----2-----0---0-----|--0-----0-----------------
-----3---3---3---3-----3-----2---2-----|--2-----2-----------------
-----0---0---0---0-----0-----3---3-----|--3-----3-----------------
Transition:
F G
-----1--1--1--1--1--1--1--1--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3-----------------
-----1--1--1--1--1--1--1--1--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3-----------------
-----2--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--4--4--4--4--4--4--4--4-----------------
-----3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--5--5--5--5--5--5--5--5-----------------

-----1--1--1--1--1--1--1--1--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3-----------------
Now here’s the way I like to play it

| A decent song with decent lyrics about a guy who is with a woman and she's driving him nuts. He want to leave her, but there's still too much love there. Thats ok tho, cause in another few years he'll hate her and that'll be that. lol Not the greatest song in the world, but certainly not the worst. | |

| i don't like how people always think this is Matt's only song. it's a good song. and he does it well live. but if i never heard him play it again... i wouldn't be upset. | |

| Personally I like tge Better Than Ezra version... But yeah, this song rocks. I used it as my backround for xanga cuz it fit perfectly. I want to copy n paste a really important part but that dissecting this song would be scandalous! It's brillaint and ne1 whose been in a crazy/love relationship can relate. | |

| Definitely one of my top 2 songs! When I hear I think of a guy who is really annoyed by this girl, but they love each other. "You're driving me crazy...when are you coming home?". | |
