SONG: Born To Kill
TABBED BY: el sancco (sancco@hotmail.com)

Here's the general lay out of the song. It's pretty simple,
so i won't transcribe it in any more detail. If you can't
figure out how to play this or the solo, then practice more.
The solo is just improvisation over the main chords being used.
Just make alot of distorted noise and you're sweet. Email me
with further death threats if you feel the need.

LYRICS:
-------

There's a big beat
You're spinning in my tv
A magician
The antidote
So I'm with him
Floating, loaded
Enough to be released

It's more than the less you say you do
It's more than the shot that gets you through
Born to buy into something
Born to kill

There's a big beat
You're sleeping in my memory
Like Satan
Lonely
So I'm with him
Floating, loaded
Enough to be released

It's more than the less you say you do
It's more than the shot that gets you though
Born to buy into something
Born to Kill

This song is utterly amazing. I love at the end when the orchestra is building up; how it cuts off right before the climax. That's life. Builds you up but ends too soon.

i don't think this song is about drugs, i think it is about how the "good side", ie: religion, has no answers so he believes and follows an alternative veiw, because he has to buy in to something, and born to kill shows he takes the darker side

This song is just a song about rage. Notice how the song tenses you up and you feel increasingly angry? It's just the anger built up inside you of whatever circumstances you're in. I also think it's about all the violent history we learn about, and how today there are still loads of people who kill, 'legally' or not. Does anyone else feel that when you listen to this song, by the second half of it, it makes you forget about matt good or the start of the song itself? This song is powerful. It takes you through the emotion of blind rage which we've all experienced at some point or other.

I think Overturned got part of it right. I think we are all born to have a place in society, "Born to buy into something." The "character" is "Born to kill". Or Matt could just be commenting on how murder is one of the most basic human functions. I don't know.

This song is about someone in a mental institution, I think. I remember Matt Good saying something about it once. I am pretty sure it's this song that he says that people commonly misinterpret. But come on, do you really think he would be that obvious to make the song about murder? That is really obtuse, especially if you are much of an MGB fan.

The Beautiful midnight version of the song is incredible. MGB is backed by the London session orchestra which makes this song sound so much better than the original, which was realesed on the Lo Fi B sides album.

In my opinion, this is about advertising or rather more the generation we live in, a generation that are so easily influenced. Advertising? maybe not the best word, but, for me this about how someone can be so heavily influenced "buy into something" to do anything "to kill". "Born" referencing today. To be honest, I can't get my head around the rest of it, whether this is just filler from Matt or whether it has some deep seeded meaning, down inside that really requires a lot more though I don't know but for me this is what this song is about. I think those two lines define the song.
