Gosh this song is the song that reminds me of me an my X! "And I know well it's me you called it over but I still wish you fought me 'til my dying day" I broke up with him b/c i thought thats what he wanted and i just wished he woulda let me know how he felt when it ended. Now after 9 months all i can so is "check the weather" and you have no idea how many times i have just "want (ed) to feel him on the line" but i hang up everytime. I still wonder when he's goin to get his heart right and come back... I can't wait to figure out what's wrong with me So I can say this is the way that I used to be!

The distance broke them apart. They both miss each other. He's waiting for her to come back home. They still love each other but can't be with each other.

I always thought it referred to the internet. I don't know why. Just its become such a popular form of communication and I know more than one person that has expressed sentiment like this talking to their ex, or even current signiificant other online. And the calling part- its so humanizing when so much happens online.

Favourite song on Heavier Things hands down. I think that he's definitely talking about a relationship that splintered over something that could have been resolved but they're both too proud or scared to try to fix it or own up. Even though they've fought a lot, they still love each other. At least that's my gist. Split Screen Sadness is the most apt title for a song I've ever heard.

i think the "split screen sadness" is a reference to movies. both people are upset about the way the relationship ended, and the split screen is used in the movie to show each person trying to go about their days but they can't stop thinking about each other, so the split screen show the mutual sadness between them.

i thought that it was "well i know well its me YOU called it over but i still wish you'd fought me til your dying day" but wouldn't it make more sense like this: "well i know well it me WHO called it over but i still wish you'd fought me til your dying day." doesn't that make more sense?
