Mayer, John Vultures Guitar Tab

Song: Vultures

Album: Try
Tabbed by: cheap_mercenary (thanks to Gabe Opio for the layout)
I'm pretty sure this is 100% correct. Direct TV had a John Mayer concert on the
channel, and John played this song high up the neck.

gcam, i completely agree - i was just going to post about this song being about paparazzi, especially seeing as he was hounded recently for the whole jessica gossip thing. i think he is saying he naively thought the entertainment industry and being a musician was going to be easy like "water" but he's found it's like "fire" but if it's what he needs to keep being successful, he'll keep walking through it and rising higher.

I'm not sure what this song is about. Maybe living a meaningful life despite the vultures- or hinderances?

he writes like 90% of his lyrics; rest are covers of other songs.

Cool ass song - the guitar riff alone carries it, never mind the great falsetto. lyrics and flourishes. What you gonna do about the vultures? They will always be there.

it kind of made me think of people who gossip, or maybe the tabloids in a sense. how they are always outside his door, people are always trying to bring him down even when he escapes. just my perspective :) 1

...It's about people always waiting for you to make a mistake but they can't really do anything about it because you're able to overcome the shit that happens in your life anyway :) that's what i think.

it basically says, no matter what anyone says or does to you, you ignore them and be better than them. Down to the wire I wanted water But I walk through the fire If this is what it takes to take me even higher
